For mustard fans that may be in the San Francisco Bay area in Feb & March, '08 you may find this interesting: The Napa Valley Mustard Festival. It runs on various dates and floating locations throught the Napa Valley. Here is their website: http://www.mustardfestival.com/calendar/

I love beer and brat mustard - especially if you are talking about sausages and kraut. Martini mustards are also good.

I only request mustard in restaurants when they are mixed together with chilli sauce to combine together as Dim Sum dipping sauce. Other than that I try to avoid them.

I have five mustards in my refrigerator right now, including my favorite, Maille's original Dijon, and a Chinese mustard.

I'm not anti-ketchup, not even opposed to it on hot dogs (yes, really, and yes I am from Chicago). I just find that I hardly use ketchup. I just keep it around for other people.

I do like mayo with fries, but then, that's probably because I'm not big on ketchup. Mustard with fries, though ... that's something I have to try!

I vote for Heinz Spicy Brown. I used to get it in Care packages from Pittsburgh until they finally started distributing it in DC.

Chinese mustard

I've always been puzzled by this substance? Is it intended for egg rolls/spring rolls? What else do folks use it for?

I think you want to find a copy of the Bill Cosby routine "Chinese Mustard".

Some favorites:

  • Bertman's Stadium Mustard (a Cleveland baseball favorite)

I'll check my pantry when I get home; I know there are some more in there.
Found two more in my cupboard:
  • Manny's Horseradish Mustard (from Manny's Deli off Roosevelt in Chicago)
  • Inglehofer Original Stone Ground Mustard

My favorite mustards are the roasted garlic and the horseradish mustards from Stonewall Kitchens.

"Horseradish mustard" is a bit of a ridiculous name.
The correct name is Tewkesbury mustard, and it's bloody delicious.

I have to ship cases of this to Cleveland Ex-Pats and anyone I happen to like that doesn't live in Cleveland.

It has been shipped to the Netherlands, Portland, Amarillo Tx, Norfolk, New York City, and Chicago.

Mustard is the only condiment that I like on food. Ketchup is just nasty and mayo is blah although I don't mind it if you mix mayo and mustard together. I like a good strong mustard, not so much spicy though.

have u ever been to the Napa Valley Mustard Festival before camargo? i've never been but i can only imagine its probably the greatest place on earth for all of us mustard fans. last year Grey Poupon Mustard was a big winner @ the festival as:

Harvest Coarse Ground on the gold Medal

and:

Hearty Spicy Brown won the bronze

if anyone is more into a hearty texture to like their meats like ham, turkey i recommend harvest but if you enjoy a spicier taste to grilled meats i recommend hearty spicy brown.

Egg rolls are what I keep it around for, because the carry-out packets can be hit-or-miss. But it's strong (and usually, having sinus issues too, I like that, but, strong can be too strong) I use half mustard, half sweet-and-sour sauce.

I think I could get by without ever eating any other kind of Chinese food again, if I could be guaranteed a steady supply of really good egg rolls.
