What's y'alls most unusual starbucks experience?

Mine wasn't that unusual, checking out at the relatively new PDX Concourse D Starbucks, I paid with my credit card. Only problem.. they used one of those old carbon copy machine credit card machines, in a brand new location.

I asked for a double tall non-fat latte, and they gave me a triple.

Seriously, I've never had an unusual starbucks experience. The whole premise of starbucks is that nothing is ever unusual or different. Its always the same, comforting coffee in the fau-chic setting.

simple:

i wan't coffee and not something with a 12 mile long name costing 6 bucks so when i ask for a medium* or large* coffee with room for milk always seem to get a "deer in the headlight look" of "is that all you want is just coffee?

* and yes, i do ask by medium or large as opposed to the other names.

Not necessarily unusual, but certainly eye-rolling...

I walked into my local Starbucks and when I paid for my drink w/my CC, the girl behind the counter looked at my name and went (and this is pretty much word for word and letter for letter)..."OMG, are you so and so's older sister?" When I replied yes, she screeched and ran out from behind the counter and hugged me and said "OMG, I totally HEART your brother." And while I waited for my drink, she then proceeded to tell every person in line when they came up to the counter that she "(I) totally heart that girl's brother."

It was the first time that I have ever heard the word "OMG" and "Heart" spoken in an actual sentence.

When I relayed this experience to my other sibling, he responded by saying that the worst experience that he had ever had in a Starbucks was when the person behind the counter sang the order in an awful, operatic voice..."A caramel macchiato for Mr. Brooooooown"..."Tall soy no whip latte for Ms. Jooooones."

saw a customer in line ahead of me throw a full, seemingly hot, drink at the barrista that had served him. the barrista was not happy about being wet and burned, called the police, good night, suge knight.

I went to our local Starbux around 6:00 PM on a Friday night. I asked for a decaf iced coffee. I was told they didn't have decaf iced coffee after 11:00 AM. I asked how long it would take to brew a pot of decaf and was told it was against corporate rules.

So I ordered a cup of hot coffee to throw at the barrista. kidding.

I was able to talk her into brewing the decaf, but she insisted it wasn't decaf iced coffee, it was decaf over ice. I guess the iced coffee is some special brew, but I have no idea why she wouldn't make any. I'm even more confused why they have a rule against decaf after 11:00 AM - that's when I switch to decaf! Am I strange?

Oh, and I always give a phony name and then have to remember what it was when my coffee is ready.

I've never really had what would be deemed as an "unusual" experience. Only thing that came close was geeting too much whip cream on my latte on several occassions when I specifically asked for just a little. Even that I would not really consider it as an "unusual" experience.

Once the guy in front of me asked for a latte at 140 degrees. I think he was talking about the temperature but I can't be sure. I can't help but wonder

1. how he discovered this was the perfect temperature,
2. if he really expected the barrista to accomodate his request
3. if the barrista actually did anything about it or just gave him a latte just like everyone else's.

Iced coffee is double brewed (as a base in large quantities at the start of the day I believe) for strength and so it doesn't taste watered down with the ice. Often times when they run out of the double brew base in later afternoon/evenings, they substitute it with an iced Americano with the equivalent amount of shots.

I always give a phony name too (Tim), mainly because I don't like having to stand there and spell my somewhat foreign name.

In Tokyo the person in front of me was trying to pay with their Stabucks card. The cahier kept trying to tell him they did not accept the cards.

When Sbux was still relatively new as a nationwide operation, I was happy to find one in San Diego. It was still new enough that the cashier needed me to translate my order for her (double tall skinny mocha, no whip).

I once went into a Starsux that wasn't crawling with homeless people, but that was awhile ago. My neighbourhood 'bucks doubles as a homeless shelter during inclement weather as does the Caribou down the street. I assume they're there for the $7 internet...
