Pi in St. Louis (and a location in DC) is pretty good. Worth checking out if you're in the area and like deep dish. They have thin crust too which I've never had.

I was so disappointed with Lou Malnati's! When I was in Chicago it was hyped up so much and when I eventually got the opportunity to taste it I was really disappointed. Giordanno's reigns supreme in the Chicago pizza market, imo ^
Giordanno's (& Eduardo's) is a stuffed pizza which lends itself to insane amounts of cheese (IMO). Lou's (as well as Pizzeria Uno's & Pizzeria Due) is a pan style pizza.

I prefer Lou Malnati's over Giordanos/Gino's, but because I don't like too much cheese on my pizza.
For some reason I really like Artichoke Basille's. Not really the typical New York pizza, but their artichoke slice is fantastic. |
In Dallas, Cane Rosso in Deep Ellum. Up in north Dallas, I'm a big fan of Dough. (Dough actually has a location in San Antonio, too. Where they started)
Both make a very thin Neapolitan style pizza cooked in a very hot wood fired oven. |
Fourth Street Pizza in Downtown San Jose, CA is really good pizza. They do thick sourdough crust, as well as thin crust pizzas. They're awesome.
Here's their website: http://www.4thstpizzaco.com/ |
We had one when driving back from Sequoya National Park at a place called "We Toss 'Em, They're Awesome" in the middle of nowhere. It was absolutely fantastic! Fresh thin pizza, huge portions - best I've ever had.
I probably could never find the place again, it's become almost mythical in my family! |
Hey I tried out pizza hut and it was Fabulous:) I m lovin it i will suggest rather to go there it is yummmmmmmy

Hardly the best in the US, but I'd say the best in the Triangle. They have a location in Raleigh and one in Durham:
www.lillyspizza.com/ My favorite is the Thai Bhat which features: Homemade Thai curry sauce, all-natural grilled chicken, roasted garlic, chili pepper, baby corn, straw mushrooms, organic carrots, sharp cheddar, parmesan, fresh ginger & scallions |
Not sure if it's been mentioned yet (not about to go through 29 pages looking for it!), but Antico Pizza in Atlanta is probably the best Neapolitan style pizza I've had outside of Italy and all but a few places in Brooklyn.
Not about to start debating pizza places in the NY/NJ/Connecticut area (intentionally omitting them), but for "the South"--Andolini's Pizza in Charleston SC is the best NY style pizza, in my opinion. |
Can't beat Lou Malnati's in Chicago.

I Love NY Pizza in Raleigh, NC

Do you know if Pi uses that bleh processed cheese (provel) that is used in St Louis by quite a few pizzerias?
Might as well chime in- even though I'm from the NYC-area, I'd be remiss If I didn't laud the pie at Frank's in New Haven. Although I do prefer a NY slice to anything deep dish, I don't even consider them competitors. A slice for me is a snack, but the Chicago institution is a meal. On the less respectable end of the spectrum, a slice at Goodfellas in Lexington, KY was not nearly as decent as what the Kro's Nest in Beijing offered, but that battle is for another thread. |

It does not. The servers even wear shirts touting the fact. |
I am seriously about to give up on Houston for pizza. I've lived here for 5 years and still have yet to find a halfway decent pizza place. I just get heart broken every time someone suggests something is good. I've tried NY Pizzeria, Star Pizza, BJ's Brewhouse, etc. Anyone have any suggestions?
To contribute, my favorite pizza is Giordano's, a close second was some random little Sicilian-ran restaurant in Munich, and the best chain (not national chain) is Jet's Pizza which is in a bunch of random eastern states. |
