The most memorable steak I've had recently was on a street corner in Santa Elena, Guatemala. Very nicely seasoned, and accompanied by plenty of leeks and capsicum, err bell peppers on the side, potato salad, and coleslaw too. No roof required.

Has anyone tried Wolfgang's Steakhouse in Beverly Hills? I understand it just recently opened. I'd love to hear about the restaurant if anyone has eaten there yet and I wonder if the BH location is as good as the ones in NYC.

I am surprised so many folks mention Sparks here. I thought it was OK, but other than the spectacular wine list, to me, the place was not any better than the average Ruth's Chris or Mortons.

Paul Castellano and Thomas Bilotti also had a very poor experience the last time they visited the place. Although, to be fair, this had nothing to do with the food and everything to do with the discourteous greeting which they received upon their arrival.

Not the best but a good experience and great atmosphere is the Angus Barn in Raleigh. It's the best I've had in the area and it's built like a huge barn (hence the name) with a gorgeous bar. It's a good value too as everything comes with salad or soup and a side and they'll top your steak in a number of different ways. I went this year for my birthday and it was a very enjoyable experience.

Wolfgang's Steakhouse in Beverly Hills has been around for about four years . IMHO, they serve the best steak in the area, far better than Mastro's and not a total rip off like Cut. I also like the sides plus the service is excellent and ambiance warm and inviting.

Great! Is there a strict dresscode or just "casual" like in a Ruths Chris?

Booked Caesars for a business lunch. I heard that this location in Calgary is a top notch steakhouse. My client even asked to eat there. Therefore, we'll go and I'll try it out for the very first time. Another friend recommended this restaurant in Willow Park Calgary. I guess there are a few locations here in Calgary.

I've always liked Ruth's Chris.. Had actually what I thought was the best steak I've ever had at the Lahaina location on Maui this past summer. Decor could have been up to snuff a bit, and seems there were some flies when the sun was setting. Had a few candles going. But the steak was unreal.

Overall favorite steakhouse experience in recent years was Country Club at Wynn Las Vegas -- excellent meat and wine list, excellent service, and great view and ambience (sat in the back area overlooking the golf course).

No, the Country Club: http://wynnlasvegas.com/Restaurants/...ng/CountryClub

SW has great steaks, wine and service, but it's kind of loud and usually too crowded for my taste. And there are only a few tables that I like there (the ones by the window where you can watch the Lake of Dreams shows); many of the other tables are stuck in the back without a good view. Can't really go wrong with either, but on balance I like Country Club better.

If you want to taste the best steak house in ASIA, then I would recommend Singapore: Mortons The Steakhouse.

Besides the delectable taste, you'll experience the best from the moment you sit down, from getting your own dedicated waiter for the night, to the quality and presentation of your steak when served. I'm still craving for it!
