Agreed entirely. I grew up on Angus Barn and to this day it continues to be my family's go to place for special events (was down there back in October for my birthday celebration and it's where my Dad proposed to my Mom years ago). Definitely not the "best in the world" but awesome atmosphere, great southern hospitality, great steak, and incredible wine list

I quite like the Maredo chain of Argentinian steakhouses that are scattered around Berlin.

Thea are good. Like the Block House Steak Houses which are located all over Germany. Of course, they cannot compete with am American Prime steak house.

Back in the day Maredo was much more upscale, whereas today it's just a popular chain for everyone.

You will find quality steakhouses the world over, I don't think any one country stands out as having the "best" ones though.

I dont know about hormones. I just know that I travelled all around the globe and I visit a prime steakhouse everywhere I am. Of course, you get a good steak everywhere. But in the good old US, they still have the best steak houses in the world. The best steak house I know is the Prime Rib in IAD. I love it! But don't forget to fix coat and tie

And possibly the worst quality meat, hormone-infested and all. I'd be keen to hit more steakhouses in Australia and New Zealand, especially since they have vastly superior beef to begin with. Or loads of top-notch steakhouses around the world that import quality beef from countries like Argentina.

IME, YES. It was worth it.

The Blue Cheese butter bread it spectacular. I had the 10oz Loin Strip which was cooked perfectly. The flavor was outstanding. The Beet salad I had as a starter was quite good too. For sides, we tried the maple carrots (just ok) and a Jalapeno cheesy corn. Everything was top notch.

For 2 people including dessert, we paid about $150 with T&T. I used Foursquare to "check in' and it included a free glass of prosseco to boot

Had lunch a Caesars and its a great local steakhouse with 2 locations in Calgary. Bill was $120 for 2 for a business lunch with tax and tip.

Scampi for appetizer (4 mini lobster tails), Rib Eye with double stuffed potato, wedge salad, cream of mushroom soup for myself. All pretty good.

After many great recommendations found in this thread, I tried out El Establo for our last night in Buenos Aires. Wow! The steak (ojo de bife) was superb! It was the best steak that we had there, and easily ranks up there with some of the best steak I've ever had. I wish we had tried it out sooner.

The place looked more like an old pub with fluorescent lights, nothing like what you'd expect from a steakhouse, but the meat was fantastic and the tastes were excellent. Thanks for the great recommendations!

And with the Argentine peso's weakness, my steak came out to $12. I had a nice demi-bottle for also about $12. Our total bill for two people with side (mushrooms with bacon in garlic oil sauce... really really delicious) came out to be $50 after tip.

I don't know if it's the best, but The Oak Door at Grand Hyatt Tokyo is certainly my favorite.

I need to add Restaurant B�rengasse in Z�rich to my list of favorites. Argentinian beef supposedly raised on the owner's ranch.

Speaking of Switzerland, I had dinner at Cafe de Paris in Geneva last night. All they do is steak frites. You sit down they bring you a salad and ask how you want your steak cooked and what you want to drink. Nothing else on the menu. It comes for the table, sliced with a flavored butter on it. They come around periodically offering to top off the fries. It was superb. Pretty reasonably priced for Geneva as well.
