Oh, indeed it did. Everything was really tasty; my favorites were the caviar with the asparagus panna cotta and the chawanmushi. I'd definitely go back.

SEMMA - New York City

Semma is an authentic south Indian restaurant. It is the only Indian restaurant in the US to have earned a Michelin . The chef, Vijay Kumar, was formerly at Michelin-starred Rasa in Burlingame, Calif. The restaurant is fairly small. Reservations are hard to get, they are released at midnight NY time a month in advance and are gone in seconds. The food is excellent and is quite different than the north Indian/Punjabi food that is commonly served in Indian restaurants in the US. The service, while friendly and efficient, is nothing special.

Mulaikattiya Thaniyam - sprouted mung beans, coconut, smoked chili

Gunpowder Dosa - rice & lentil crepe, potato masala, sambar

Mangalore Huukosu - cauliflower, garlic, byadgi chili, coconut chutney

Attu Kari Sukka - lamb, black cardamom, tellicherry peppers, mace

Matka Paan Old-Fashioned - Bourbon, Paan, Domaine de Canton, Rose, Coconut Ice, Aged in Matka

Goanese Oxtail - angus oxtail, green cardamom, cinnamon, cumin, cilantro

Mirchi Ka Salan - stuffed long peppers, sesame seeds, peanuts

Elaneer Payasam - tender coconut, coconut milk, coconut water, cashews, raisins, ghee

Alphonso Mango - mango custard, mango pachadi, fresh mango (seasonal special dessert)

SAN HO WON
Corey Lee's contemporary Korean BBQ restaurant

Scored a last minute 9:30 pm reservation on a weeknight. Ordered from the general menu based on coworkers' recommendations.
Clockwise from top left: 6-Year Doenjang and Clam Jjigae, Chunjang-Glazed Pork Ribs, Sweet Corn with Honey Butter and Chili, complimentary banchan (advised to skip the speciality banchan), Jebi Churi - Beef Neck Fillet with Ssam and Scallion Salad, and Savory Egg Soufflé.

Would not have thought that it is currently the only one. There used to be a few others in New York and the Campton Place in SFO with 2 stars. All closed or lost their stars.....

I should have been more precise in my language; it is the only Indian restaurant in the United States that was awarded a Michelin this year.

Had lunch at Maison Aribert today (2 + 1 green star). Stunning and beautiful. Images (in no particular order) in the spoiler.

Went to Kochi (NY, 1*) over the July 4th long weekend. What a lovely experience! I'm lactose intolerant which is always a bummer for eating out and usually how accomodating they are is a good indication of how the meal is gonna go. They had completely off-the-menu dishes for me where no dairy-free option was available (e.g. there's an ice-cream dish in the tasting menu which I obviously couldn't have). They also replaced the frozen yoghurt dessert with a non-dairy frozen yoghurt which, frankly, I didn't know that was a thing?

The whole meal was both very tasty, and, surprisingly, actually a lot of food.

The only thing that was a bit odd was that the table next to us seemed to be some very VIP's - they got free champagne when sitting down and multiple hand-crafted additions to the tasting menu - i'm talking heaps of caviar (one of the dishes was a small portion of -delicious- caviar - they ended up getting a huge spoonful of caviar added to a SECOND dish), gold-flakes (why?!) etc. Guess you can feel second-class even at a Michelin-starred restaurant!

And no, they definitely didn't request these things, because they were very surprised and grateful to get them, too!

Funny you mentioned the extras at Kochi. It's one of the few restaurants I felt like a "second class citizen" for not getting the add-ons, wagyu beef. The regular meat dish was just okay, compared to what I saw at the next table. Definitely sours the experiences a bit.

Some recent Tokyo Michelin experiences:
Sushi Kanesaka (2) -- classy edomae style sushi. Unfortunately no pictures allowed, but amazing food, and good to go while the JPY is still weak (70,000 JPY per person not including drinks). Reserved through Tableall
Abysse (1) -- where else to have French food other than Japan? In Japanese cuisine not having any meat is very common but this is not common in French food and here they do a full French meal without any meat at all. Reserved through Pocket Concierge. Pictures in spoilers:
