Italian beef with hot peppers and fries from Portillo's. And a strawberry lemon cake shake.

I'm not a fan of cake shakes. I wasn't consulted. I would have preferred a slice of the lemon cake.

I definitely love slices of cake.

I’m making meatloaf for my father-in-law tonight. I’m using the Souper Saucy recipe from the Campbells cookbook we’ve had since 1976. It takes half a can of condensed tomato soup in the loaf. The other half becomes a sauce. Probably baked sweet potatoes and fresh green beans on the side. A nice bottle of Napa Cabernet to go along with the meal.

Plain cake (e.g., anything out of a box) needs ice cream - just not blended together with milk. :)

Portillo's (seasonal) lemon cake is even better than their chocolate cake.

I may have that beat. I still use Ann Lander's recipe. :D

I like your corn skewers. First ones I’ve ever seen that didn’t look like miniature ears of corn. Of course I buy mine at the dollar store.

These are artsy fartsy....i asked for some for my birthday years ago and got these. They might be from Crate & Barrel. Those ones shaped like corn are too flimsy.

I like them too. Something similar on Amazon, though your's might be more "tightly wound." :)

I've got to ask. Define hot ones. I've bought shishito peppers on multiple occasions and have never found hot ones. They've always given a "pepperish" taste but nothing beyond that. I've resorted to just buying the spicy wrinkly ones that I find at chinese supermarkets. Those are better. Usually break them into two batches, one set I pickle, the other set I toss into stir fry.
