Regarding Caesar salad, don't forget that it is a dish that was invented in Mexico.

Phase II of the Reuben sandwich extravaganza. Tonight will be corned beef instead of pastrami. No potato salad. And I am making my own cole slaw from the cabbage given us by the next door neighbor from her garden. Also full sour pickles instead of half sour. I may throw kim chi on mine instead of sauerkraut. And FIL ate all the rye bread but bought a loaf at the local German bakery.

Often ordered on our cruises but we decided against tonight , rather stark reminder .. think our cruises are not happening this year ..

To celebrate everyone ‘ s birthday on CNY Day 7 , we chose a Swiss restaurant .

No photos of mains but had Zurich veal slices with roesti ( best in a long time ) , baked black cod , rack of lamb and off menu Boston lobster 🦞 capellini with chilli padi aioli

One of our delicious starters - crab cake

Baked Alaskan crab in avocado - heavenly

Our crepes suzette being prepared

2 with usual vanilla ice cream

2 with chocolate chip ice cream

Rick Bayless's tortilla soup -- made with a mushroom/tomato/onion/garlic base, and then garnished with homemade tortilla chips, avocado, chipotle peppers, goat cheese and watercress.

My old $40 Hamilton Beach food processor bit the dust. I debated whether I “need” to replace it and decided I should because a) I can afford to because we’re eating out so much less and b) there’s an empty spot on the counter and c) it takes too long to chop lots of vegetables by hand.

I’m not too impressed with the low end Cuisinart I bought off Amazon but will give it a 30 day test. The cole slaw below is an example of reason c. The recipe came with the food processor. It gets sweetness from ketchup instead of added sugar (my ketchup is sugarless) and also includes 2 tbsp of olive oil which my slaws don’t usually include. I made a couple substitutions based on what I had and didn’t have. Overall, it came out okay but I’m not done working on it. I still have half a cabbage to experiment.

I want to make sure its me and not the machine. Plus Ive made a lot if returns in the last couple months. I dont want to set off some kind of Amazon alarm. The only issue is the remaining big stuff falling into the bowl instead of staying on top of the blade. Not a huge problem and I havent tried the other blade yet.

Thank you but shrooms are on my absolute hate list so I don't know if it would be the same. But I might try some goat cheese on my regular chicken tortilla soup next time. I always have it on hand.
Actually I sometimes put goat cheese on chilaqilles so I know it works with Mexicanish food
