Hot and sour soup for this last hurrah of winter that has knocked the nighttime lows into the 30s for a few days.

If they're dashing for a water fountain, they must love spicy food....

Tonight we are going to Rose Mary, a Croatian-Italian place, and I'm excited. We have been trying to just wander in for months; a couple months ago I made an actual reservation (six weeks out). It's supposed to be great! The chef won Top Chef a few years back I think.

They joke that they consider ketchup spicy. Personally I'm not sure what their tolerance really is. The thing is, in general, most enjoy stuff like wasabi peas. So it doesn't correspond to a specific spiciness.

Taco Bell Fire Sauce would send the average Argentine to the ER.

As for my Guacamole, everyone who tasted it went back for more, and the Tomato salad was the hit of the evening. "What's the recipe?" There is none. The rest of the food consisted of dry roasted pork, dry roasted chicken, some roast potatoes, Pringles-like chips, cubes of cheese, and some other salad-like creation. My tomatoes made a good topping for the meats that as described, were roasted to perfection (or was that to extinction?)

I am guessing then that the "argentinian" food I've had in the past is likely not authentic. I'll have to see what I can find here. Any suggestions?

I am in favour of guac that has a bit of a bite. Too often I find they just put in too much lemon/lime to prevent browning and not too much else. Adding some flavourful ingredients always helps break up the richness of the avocado. Glad to hear people enjoyed it.

Yeah, if I taste much lemon or lime in the guac, I presume it's not fresh and avoid it.

Romaine salad with the usual....cheese, nuts, dried fruit.
Slice of pizza that I brought back from my trip to Vegas last month from Secret Pizza (and froze). This one was white pizza and I heated it up on the grill and topped with pepperoncini and honey.

Crappy weather day here. Severe thunderstorms, and tornado warnings next door in NJ.

So,,,,decided to hunker down with wine and a charcuterie board. This will cover dinner.
