The WA harvest this year was not particularly good (poor weather leading up to the harvest season) so the crop is very small and not very high quality.

Apparently a lot of michigan cherries are going to go to waste this year - the farmers are apparently having a hard time finding places to process them and they're being told they already have enough and don't need to buy more.
