Stopped at a grocery store after a false alert made me get up and go to a data center (gotta love IT) early this morning. Cherries (big-ish) Product of the USA (no clue as to what type) for $3.98/lbs

Got some at Costco last week that were quite good. Supposed to be $5.99 for 2 pounds. Of course the best looking container was an organic one that I didn’t even see a tag for. Charged $9.99.

I have not yet had a really good cherry this year. That includes CA and WA from stores, local from farmers markets, and from our own tree. Maybe too much rain, especially late spring?

Most likely, haven't had enough time to properly ripen. The sugars haven't had a chance to develop.

Yup, not a great cherry season. I expect lots of storm damage occurred in Northern CA (at a time when the nearly-ripe fruit would split), and our short local season is long done.

I bought them for $3.59/lb on the weekend - not bad consider how it usually is

All the ones from Costco recently were pretty good. The organic ones were 8/10, and normal ones 7/10.

No fuzz growth detected? IIRC you've had some not so great batches in the past.

$3.99 a pound this afternoon at Winn Dixie. I just got back so haven’t tried them.

On the $4.99 batch, I found one cherry with a slight amount of mold. Packed in WA, on June 25th, so about a week before we bought it. I try to look at the bottom of the container, to look for such things. My daughter picked it out, but I doubt I’d have spotted it, either.

Down to $2.99 here this week. But disappointing at 3.99 so why would I bother?
