PSA that the 4th of July holiday means cherries are on sale at many supermarkets, at least in my neck of the woods. Cheapest I’m seeing in today’s flyers is $1.99/lb (Stop & Shop).

They’re back up to $3.99. The best I had this summer were $2.99 a pound, sweet and fragrant.

We had cheaper (I think cheapest was $1.49/lbs.... "Washington cherries") but only 2-3 weeks this summer. My garden is not happy with me right now and same for many of my neighbours... so not surprised prices are going up.

I tried my $3.99 cherries last night and they’re from Canada. Not as ripe as I would like, but still delicious. I think our $2.99 cherries were from Michigan.

This year has been so screwy with fruits. I bought longan fruit earlier this summer....lasted a whole week and a half with nothing going bad (some were getting a bit overripe towards the end but still edible). Not quite the sweetest though (likely picked before they were ripe and slow-shipped)... But I bought lychee at a good price on Monday... mold started showing up Tuesday evening.

Haven't bought any cherries this year as they usually seemed a tad soft... Might take a look next grocery trip, but not expecting great cherries this year.

Cherries are up to $4.99 a pound this week. That tells me we are nearing the end of the season.

I bought some from Chile yesterday at Aldi. I think the price was $3.79.
