Picked up a 2 pound bag of California cherries today, $3.99/lb. The season will be over before you know it!

Wow. Cherries here are going for $8.99/lbs (flown in by air for some reason)...

Lomapaseo May 15, 2022 7:25 pm

$7.99 at Shop Rite in Connecticut and they sucked

$2.99 a pound at the local Kroger’s affiliate. Small, but mostly decent.

Better than indecent and overpriced.

$2 at a street vendor for what turned out to be slightly over a pound after picking out a few leaky ones.

Current Manhattan Chinatown pricing seems to be in the 2lbs/$4 to 3lbs/$5 range. So far, the bag I got of the latter is hitting the spot, although I'm sure there will be at least a few duds.

Downtown Seattle, Whole Foods:

Bing $6.99/lb.
Rainier $8.99/lb.

Both from California. I'm expecting the WA crop soon-ish, maybe a few weeks or so?

StuckInYYZ May 26, 2022 1:51 pm

"California Jumbo Cherries" CDN$3.98/lbs

Not sure how tasty those will be. A lot of early season stuff for me has been quite tasteless.

$1.99/lb for California grown at several stores, and they have been very good aside from a larger than usual number of "doubles".
Ours on the north coast are pea sized now. Probably 3 weeks out at least.

$8.99 Rainier here in NC at Whole Foods. That's pretty typical -- usually there is a week or two where they get a big surge of them and give you a 10-15% discount but otherwise that's about normal.

Regular are $6.99 right now so it's absolutely worth the extra for the Rainier but that will drop in the next few weeks at which point the regular is a much better deal

Cherries, huh?
