For instance, every Labor Day weekend Mrs Willie & I hold a party at our lake cabin in N Wisconsin. Folks drink Miller Lite throughout the day, can't do that with craft beers as they just are too rich or heavy.
A lot of craft breweries produce some solid session beers that have more flavour than Miller Lite but are still light enough to drink for most of the day without getting unsociably drunk.

A few examples that I've tried and found to be a definite upgrade over your standard 'sex in a canoe' lager - All Day IPA by Founders, Dead Pony Club by Brewdog, Go To IPA by Stone, Easy Jack by Firestone Water, Table Beer by Kernel.

Two more craft beers that went straight down the drain after one gulp last night.
I asked Mrs Clint to pick up a couple of strong Belgian beers last night with our Friday night takeaway.
She came back with:

O'Hara's Hop Adventure
St Austell's Proper Job

Amazingly the Proper Job claimed on its label to be a Champion Bottled Beer of Britain. It was truly awful. Not because it was Powerfully Hopped as it also said on the label but because it lacked any subtlety and taste.Really dreadful.

Be careful.

Wasting beer is a felony in some states.

Pabst Blue Ribbon is named so because it had won some awards.

The palmares for beers is like those for photographers or lawyers....there's a million fictitious awards so everybody gets a prize.

So...you hate hoppy beer and you ask your wife to buy you some Belgians, she instead she comes home with two IPAs, one of which has the word "hop" in the name? Rather than venting about craft beers, maybe you should be venting about your wife's inability to pick beers that in any way, shape or form are the type you prefer to drink.

First up I don't hate hoppy beers.I like beers made with hops.I just don't like crap hoppy beers of which these two were prime examples.
And you think I'm going to mention to my wife she brought the wrong beer home for me ?
Are you mad ? It's taken me years to train her to bring beer home.I'll take the rough with the smooth rather than mess up that hard-won arrangement.
Sheesh,some people ...

I agree with the OP insofar as 1) I personally dislike strongly hopped, high ABV beers, and 2) this style of beer is currently all the rage in the US, where it is crowding out other styles of beer. There are other beers out there, though. At bars and restaurants that serve craft beers I'm almost always able to find something that's not a punch-you-in-the-mouth IPA.

At my favorite local craft bar, there are 65 taps. On average, 10 of those are IPA or double IPA. I usually have 5-10 porters and stouts to choose from and that's where I usually start. I like hops but there are a lot of good beers out there that aren't IPA.

I'm typing this with my eye-balls.
The punctuation is being done by my tongue.
I was force-fed Founders IPA all night.
Enough said.

Personally, I would agree entirely with the title of this thread, if the word "craft" were eliminated from it.

As is usually the case with women she eventually succeeded.
The Founder's was something else.Malty and not too hoppy it reminded me of old-fashioned butterscotch and toffee.A lovely pint.

Glad to hear Mrs. Bint successfully changed your mind about something since those of us in this thread could not!

She knows which buttons to push.

However I am still open to persuasion on the whole craft beer discussion and, indeed,do as much research on the subject as I can....
