Not bad for a $10 bottle. Very smooth and floral.

Chateauneuf De Pape Remy Ferbras

Remy Ferbras Chateauneuf de Pape, 2018. No idea where it came from, suspect it was a supermarket discount purchase. All considered pretty good, although its hard to go wrong with chateauneuf. With a chateaubriand cooked on the kamado grill, homemade bernaise, frites and onions and mushrooms.

Chateau Grand Verdus - Macerat Blanc 2019
very interesting orange wine, this is a white made like a red. A non-oxydative style, powerfull and very pure, with a lovely delicate tannin and light bitterness.

French Malbec

I don’t usually smell corks but I smelled this one. It carried a very strong violet perfume. Tastes like black cherry juice from a wooden cup.

I hope this goes well with turkey. One bottle in a case broke and ruined the labels so I got it for 1/2 off.

Not having turkey or I would be having Pinot Noir or Beaujolais Nouveau

An online tasting with vigneron Jean Charles Cazes, featuring some of JM Cazes best offerings.

Domaine de L’Ostal Grand Vin 2017
Domaine de Sénéchaux Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2017
Château Ormes de Pez 2015
Château Lynch-Bages 2017

Whilst the Ormes de Pez and Lynch Bages were of course fantastic (almost sacrilegious to drink the Bages so young and really well before it’s time, but we did get it at a discount), the Châteauneuf probably won on a bang for buck basis at a fraction of the price of the two Pauillac bottles.

Our first online tasting since the dark days of lockdown earlier in the year, with the storm clouds of increasing case numbers and new variants on the horizon, a Happy Thanksgiving to everyone hopefully tucking into a nice Pinot noir with their turkey right about now

Picked this up from the local Salumeria. Fantastic and further validation that Rosso di Montalcino is definitely one of my favorite wines.

I wasn’t sure about this one until the second glass. Needed to breathe.

I'm not good at doing this on the day, but a few recent tipples:

Vassaltis Assyrtiko 2019
Domaine Coffinet-Duvernay Chassagne-Montrachet 2016
Les Tourelles de Longueville, Pauillac 2010 (2nd wine of Pichon Baron)
Esk Valley Riesling 2019
Chateau Marquis de Terme Margaux 2005
Little Beauty Sauvignon Blanc 2020
Pelassa Corte Enrichetta Langhe 2018

The first 3 were a self-assembled wine pairing with a restaurant lunch (a bit of sommelier help with the Pauillac). Only started drinking Assyrtiko recently, and this was the first one I've had from Mykonos, very nice.
