First day in the garden today. Celebrations. Street food but not as we know it Jim. Rendang pork balls with pilau and champers.

That puts yesterday's gumbo to shame. Beautiful.

I arranged for family to meet me for lunch yesterday at Gene's Oyster Bar, a local business that has been open since the 1930's. Although it's only 2 minutes from work, I'd never been there and I didn't read the reviews carefully or I'd have known that it seats only 14 and doesn't serve beer. Oh well, the oysters were big and fresh and shucked in front of us. Not being an oyster lover, I ordered the gumbo. It was delicious but not nearly as pretty.

Salad of tangerine and fennel (it was good but needed something...suggestions?)

the Negroni I was drinking whilst cooking
and of course some wine

I just noticed your Alsatian Pinot Noir. Did you enjoy? I have had the same one on occasion and thought it was pretty good.

I enjoyed it. It was a different style than I'm used to: very restrained and minerally, with very little of the fruit I'm used to in pinot noir (even Old World pinot noirs).

Thanks.

That steak looks great. Lot's of kitchen smoke?

I had my very first blackened steak in ATL. It was in Windy Ridge Parkway. It was my very first meal in ATL! What a suprise that was .... followed by some drinks at Ruby Tuesday.
