WP 24 in downtown Los Angeles has a gorgeous bar and seriously overpriced good food. This is a Wolfgang Puck restaurant and is on the 24th floor of the Ritz Carlton. Go for drinks and appetizers. View is spectacular.

Calgary Tower has a nice skyline rotating restaurant..

Nice Sunday Brunch.. a discount offered for the admission to go up the elevator if dining at the restaurant..

And as others have already mentioned the Banyan Tree in Bangkok as well as Swissotel (the Stamford) in Singapore are great for drinks with a view.
The men's restroom at Felix is also quite unique! I enjoyed the food too - maybe not the most memorable, but still pretty good.

No no The Sears Tower is the Willis Tower now. John Hancock is still John Hancock. (It's the second tallest.)

Was positively surprised about the Pinnacle Skylounge bar at Fraser Suites in the Global 188 Building, B Tower in Suzhou a few weeks ago. Very civil prices in the pleasant bar and adjacent cigar room and great views over this beautiful city.

Here's where I've been in New York City:

The View - 43rd floor, Marriott Marquis Hotel
Asiate - 36th floor, Mandarin Oriental Hotel

They don't quite meet the 50th floor and higher requirement, but it appears that the restaurant/bar at Top of the Rock, 70th floor, Rockefeller Center, has closed. I'd rather go to Asiate anyways.

Added these too! Keep 'em coming. I'd love to hear any suggestions for here in Seattle. I know Canlis is often mentioned as a restaurant with a great view, but I'm curious what other restaurants people have tried that fit in the tower/view category here.

I'll trade recommendations from the eyes of a local for them.

Actually the John Hancock is the 4th tallest in Chicago. Another very good choice is Everest, which is 40 floors up in the Chicago Stock Exchange building.

Yeah, they are! Always a good laugh at being able to "pee onto the city" as well as the semi view into the ladies room.

For clarification for those who don't get it or haven't been, there is a lot of glass, including the urinals being placed below windows overlooking the city.

Top of the Hub in Boston is at the top of the Prudential tower and has decent food and great views. Not the best food in Boston (my vote goes to l'Espalier for that, but a great combo of food+view+ambiance that make it worth a visit.
