Having grown up in Northern Illinois, it was "pop." When I went to Ecuador for a foreign studies program in college, everything that was carbonated was "cola" - Seven, Pepsi, Coca, etc.

Anyone know what folks in northern Minnesota, mid-Arizona, and slivers of NC/VA use? They report 50-80% "other".

I was born in Coke land. I grew up in Pop land. I have always called carbonated beverages Soda.
And I now live in Texas and only know one person who calls all CBs "Coke." She's from Mexico!

Interesting timing. On Sunday we went to brunch and the server asked if we wanted more soda pop. The second time she asked, my partner said, "I take it you didn't grow up in Arizona."
She said, "Soda pop gave me away, right?" She grew up in Ohio.
