This was from earlier this year: I was looking for a set of inexpensive flights to Europe for me + spouse. Ended up with SEA-AMS on Delta for 35k each, and LGW-YYC-SEA on WestJet + Delta for 25k each. I didn't really want to fly out of LGW, but RDM bank was a bit low because of gifting D1 tickets to the kids, and it was by far the least expensive award ticket home.

However, a few weeks before departure, the LGW-YYC segment changed schedule, which let me rebook to LHR-PDX-SEA at no cost.

On the day we flew home, LHR-PDX was oversold in Coach so we were Op-Upped to D1, and the PDX-SEA was upgraded as usual to F.

So for 60k skymiles each, we flew to Europe C+ outbound and D1 inbound. That's a success, I think.

I just snagged two PIT-AUA one-way for 20k each in First for my parents at the very end of January. It was nice to find a decent SkyPeso redemption. The return will have to be on WN though. Lol

This advice came in handy! Checked fares a few minutes ago and noticed that this flight had dropped to 15k miles per person. Your advice just saved me 8k miles - thank you!

About a month ago, I snagged a ALB-ATL-DTW-LHR, return LHR-DTW-ALB in D1 for 160,000 miles and $296 for taxes in mid-December. I didn't think it was too bad since I was flying in and out of ALB. Booked the double connection to enjoy some time in FC and get some work done.

Nice award redemption, and the taxes seem pretty reasonable for LHR as well. I just booked the same routing for me and my fussy lap infant, and I picked the seat next to you on each leg to ensure you neither enjoy first class nor get any work done.

CMH to DUB Score

A couple weeks ago my wife and I decided we were going to Dublin for TradFest in January, decided to see what I could get using miles from CMH....I guess I hit it exactly at the right time, got 2 round trip tickets for 42K miles each...checked yesterday and they were 95K each!!

6k x2 for RDU - ORD this upcoming March (with immediate C+ confirmed as PM). Cash ticket was $104/person -- netting out the $5.60 that gives me a redemption value of 1.6 CPP, won't complain about that for a domestic Y flight.

Allows us to fly up the night before our NH F (via VS) ORD - NRT redemption and combined with my Chase Marriott 25k Cert for the Westin O'Hare adds no cost while adding safety of flying up the night before.

Glad to lock it in too 6k, even if DL decides eventually to re-time or cancel this route, can easily be re-booked via ATL/DTW if required and accomplish the same outcome.

CDG-LHR-SEA for 84k miles plus 300 EUR taxes (grr) on November 12th. Ticket was sold as economy for the CDG-LHR leg with Air France, 4 hours In the clubhouse then Upper Class with Virgin Atlantic. Good enough.

I was able to grab 2x SEA-CDG in D1, one way only, in August. ExpertFlyer was showing a generous O=4 but we only needed two. I opted to pay with VS miles as it was only 50k miles versus 80k with Skymiles. But great availability for Delta on dates I needed to send 2 family members to Europe.

Seeing a ton of deals for Europe in Jan. Strongly considering booking a trip from RDU-MAD-BCN-RDU for 30K miles (in Main). Cash ticket price is $3600. 11-12CPM is a steal for redeeming.

Early December trip to check out the holiday festivities. D1 for 2 @ 148k/each. ATL-MSP on 757 and DTW - ATL on A321. Thankfully no 737-900ER in sight.

$3600 for that ticket in main?? Doesn't seem like a steal.

I think the OP is saying the 30k mile redemption is a steal when it’s 3600 dollars to fly there in coach. Agree that 3600 in coach is never a steal

Agree that paying $3600 for main is extremely high. However my point was that only redeeming 30k for a ticket that high is a deal.
