Just got an email that says due to popular demand they have added a second eclipse flight!

Looks like I guessed right -- https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/36016777-post3.html

They just pushed back departure time of DL1010 by 45 minutes and put an A321 on it for one day only (was originally an A319). This is not actually an additional flight.

Flight only has 4 seats left in F, and only Y/B bucket availability in coach. B fares on route are $739. Ouch!

Ick, not sure I'd want to be on a 321 for that; even with a window seat it's even more people clamoring to look over you vs an A220.

Surprised we haven't heard JSX announce eclipse charter flights, it seems pretty well suited with their 1-1 configuration where every seat is at a window. Yes, there might be some clamoring to be on the side the eclipse is currently on, but certainly way better than a 3-3 aircraft. Plus decent sized windows on the EMB145.

I wonder how many people will want to have their shades down so that they can take a snooze

That makes all the difference in the world- totality and 99% are a world of difference. I say this all the time: explaining a total solar eclipse to someone is liking a woman explaining giving birth to me. She could do it all day long but I would have no clue.

Of course, the weather is pretty iffy everywhere for it so mobility is the key.

We are on the Discovery Princess.

I may be a sucker, but I booked a window seat on this second flight. On April 9 I will be here either gloating or weeping! I saw the eclipse a few years ago through a thin layer of clouds near Kansas City, so I’m not blowing my only chance at least….And I booked the flight with Skypesos, so arguably I’m not giving up anything of value! LOL

You seem to have well over a couple thousand posts, so your proclamation has even more power.

I hope our official photographer enjoys the flight and also enjoys sharing the pictures and experience with us. OTOH, I hope DL doesn't try any unexplained seat changes on this flight.

Well the dude literally wrote a book on the subject.
Amazon Amazon
So I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on his article and believe it to be reasonably well informed.

Not in western Nebraska. It. was. awesome.

This time, because the BF is in New England, I'll be heading out to base out of Portland, Maine, and we will do our best to drive to clear skies for an afternoon eclipse.

I can imagine a Shenanigans thread if those seat changes happen.
