Co-workers went through ~6:30am today. Precheck was 3 min, North was 10 min.

MSP was quite the mess yesterday evening. Regular (North) line and the Delta baggage check lines snarled together over by the south side of the concourse, making it difficult to get anywhere. Pre was 25 minutes at 6:30; can't imagine what the regular line would have been but probably over an hour easily. The Pre situation was not helped by the fact that half the lanes were clsed. South CLEAR looked to be fast; first time I have ever seen that CLEAR might have been worth something. If this continues, think I might sign up after all while I get it free..

Closing half the lanes is the reason for these changes in the security lines at MSP. They are replacing the flooring at the South checkpoint, closing half the lanes at a time there while the other half are under construction.

Not quite sure what is/isn't being done with the floor, but they actually opened at least one more lane right when I got to the front of the line, so they were definitely not at full capacity before.

Just went through, didn't walk by, but the North checkpoint didn't come back to the DL bag check. South was quick.

Unless you're concerned about the eyescan, fingerprints, or general data issues, if you can get CLEAR for free why not have it as an insurance policy?

You can do the application on line (or in a SC) and then when you complete the procedure at the airport, which only takes a couple minutes, you'll be escorted to the front of the line for TSA aiorport security for your flight that day.

Ha! Ya right, you dont get escorted to the front of any line. You get you own line to the TSA ID checker that alternates between Clear and PreCheck. The length of that line determines if you save any time or not...IME its a toss up sometimes it saves a lot of time, usually it doesnt save any, and often it costs time.

I have (mild) misgivings about handing out my biometrics to a random company, but the bulk of it was just that this was literally the first time I have ever been in a situation where CLEAR would have saved me more than two minutes over the regular Pre line. I know it's not everyone's experience, but I had never spent more than 10 minutes waiting for Pre before, at any airport, with a median experience of walking straight through, barely breaking stride.

I guess it's pushing 20 years since 9/11, but I also keep imagining that if Pre lines are ever consistently long that the F/elite/Pre combo line will start to be a regular option.

I've got a 7:30 am flight on Wednesday morning.

How have lines at the hotel checkpoint been? Wondering if I shouldn't just have my Uber drop me off there.

Thoughts?

I'm Clear/Pre.

I'd worry that the hotel checkpoint might be closed, plus AFAIK it doesn't have PreCheck, possibly not even PreCheckLite. With both CLEAR and PreCheck at a time that isn't peak, I'd be inclined to go to South, although it depends a bit on whether your gate is close to the entrance from the hotel. If you can't do security from the hotel, you'll be stuck there and it will take time to get to the main terminal--it's not walkable and I wouldn't expect to see taxis waiting there. Hotel shuttle is unreliable IME.

5:45AM this morning. Negligible line at North or any airline counter. Pre was no wait.

When I decided to try a free one-month CLEAR membership being offered in the MSP SkyClub the CLEAR sign up process in the SC could do fingerprints but not the eye scan. Then, a few days later, when I tried to use CLEAR, the machines could not read my fingerprints (a frequent problem for me, although I’ve learned techniques for making fingerprint scans work) and there were problems with doing the eye scan as well. I finally gave up on the whole process. I was wasting more time trying to complete my CLEAR registration than just going through the PreCheck line.

When is this scheduled to be completed? I'm not scheduled to fly out of MSP until Thanksgiving, will it be done by then?
