Delta 777-200ER/LR Conversions to 7HD & 7HB. Pre-mods config is 37J/36W/218Y. For all the ERs and the first LR, post-mods config was initially 28J/48W/220Y (7HD/7HB). The post-mods config for all ERs and LRs is now 28J/48W/90Y+/122Y (7CD/7CB).

Modifications are taking place at SIN and the entry and exit dates are based on SIN time (GMT + 8 hrs). Comfort + installation was done at ATL on all the 7HD>7CD conversions, and on 7106 (7HB>7CB). The remaining 9 LRs had the C + cabins installed at SIN.

If not - any ideas on a 777 in this route? I have no doubts it will be enjoyable either way.
My educated guess will be 777-2HD or 777-200

N865DA is taking its first revenue flights today and tomorrow since returning from mods. However, the seat maps for those flights (DL 121 MSP-HND today and DL 120 HND-MSP tomorrow) are both showing the 7HD configuation, that is 48 PS but 0 C+ seats.

I have been viewing DL's scheduling well into 2019 calendar for where the upgraded 777's will be deployed, and I'm not sure that 8 HD 777-200ER's (7HD's) can cover all that are listed. If you ( I ) pick a date (say September 15th, 2019) the following are the routes being covered by the 8 HD's: MSP-HND-MSP (currently using 2 AC) / MSP-CDG-MSP (currently using 1 AC) / ATL-NRT-ATL (will probably be using 2 AC) / MSP-ICN-MSP (will probably be using 2 AC) / LAX-CDG-LAX (could possibly get by using only 1 AC) / LAX-SYD-LAX (will probably end up using 2 AC). 2+1+2+2+1+2 > 8 (actually = 10). Might it be probable that DL's scheduling is including all upgraded 777's into the HD bucket? Because, logically the schedule WILL NOT WORK. Help me out here attempting to MAKE THE SCHEDULE DO-ABLE. Thanks to all responses and clarifications.

Isnt is possible that ICN-MSP-CDG-MSP-ICN only requires two frames? And, though this seems like more of a stretch, but, SYD-LAX-CDG-LAX-SYD also only requires two frames? If the time on ground is short enough, it might work. Especially if you we’re to construct the five MSP and LAX trips as one super line, something like ICN-MSP-CDG-LAX-SYD-LAX-CDG-MSP-HND-MSP-maintenance-ICN

Using the DL flying time per segment + 2 hrs layover per leg (which is DL usually has as their standard) I added up approx 168 hours. By dividing by 24 (hours in a day), the result is 7 aircraft (6.97) to fly the entire HD routes. Logically, It CAN be done, but even Delta doesn't squeeze that high of percentage usage in their aircraft. So, I guess I did prove your theory - but in actual practice - just don't see it.

LAX-SYD-LAX is with an LR so I suppose it is possible everything will just be an HD (or they are just place holders), given that they layout is the same between the two. At the refit rate all but a few LRs will be done prior to the start of the summer.

LAX-SYD still shows as 777-200 ER metal, I will figure that all 777-200ERs will be converted by then (aka 777-7HD), but I'm not sure if enough converted LR's will be completed by then (2 needed plus 1 spare). It's been almost a year and only 1 LR has been modded...N706DN. I'm sure all will work out eventually. DL does not want to have to eat crow.

There are a few routes that after being the modded 7HDs appear to be moved to A333's....which will not have D1's. The routes are as follows:
MSP-CDG-MSP - end of 2019 October.....shows as a 333 (my guess it will be one of the newer 333 - HGW models I refer to as 33H's)
ATL-CDG-ATL - end of 2019 March.....shows as a 333
LAX-CDG-LAX - end of 2019 September....shows as a 333 (again it will probably be one of the newer 333 - HGW models because of distance)
ATL-AMS-ATL - end of 2019 May......shows as a 333

The above 4 routes have been running with D1 seating - to be returned to non D1 type aircraft. mmmmmm. Will the above be used as some of the first A330-900neos routes (which will have the D1 seating) so customers that would expect to have D1 will not be disappointed? I'm not the expert here, just courious on what DL's thoughts are on their future decisions.

I wouldn't call A333 J "non-D1" seating. In fact many on this board would say that the A330 D1 remains the best J seat in the fleet (I haven't been on the A359/777 suites yet so can't compare but the A330 seats are very good)

Ooops, guess that shows my ignorance - the last 333 I was on was when all of DL's were inherited from NWA and probably my last experience was 2006 (well over 10 years ago). Thanks for the information.

DL is constantly changing plane types on its routes as it responds to fluctuations in demand. That's just business. There is no crow-eating involved. It would actually be shocking if none of these routes changes planes. DL has more than enough widebodies to handle its current and planned route network.

This isn't directly related to D1, but has anybody run across the Delta.com seat map not matching Seat Guru for 777 transpacific flights?

Delta.com shows row 40 as 2x3x0 and Seat Guru only has one configutation of 777 and row 40 is listed as 3x3x3.

The biggest difference, I think, is that the plane is using premium economy, not Comfort+ - but I really have no idea if this main cabin option is a good seat or one with limited recline.

Is there a thread for Seat Guru?

Friends don't let friends use SeatGuru. There are lots of carriers/configs where it's just not current. Delta's 7HD config - a refurbed 777-200ER with Premium Select but no Comfort+ - as described in the Wiki is one such animal.
