Delta 777-200ER/LR Conversions to 7HD & 7HB. Pre-mods config is 37J/36W/218Y. For all the ERs and the first LR, post-mods config was initially 28J/48W/220Y (7HD/7HB). The post-mods config for all ERs and LRs is now 28J/48W/90Y+/122Y (7CD/7CB).

After reaching out to Delta on Twitter of all places, these are the responses I got that seem conflicting:

"When the aircraft was upgraded your seat inventory was changed as well. There is no charge for the seats assigned to you. If you wish to modify your seats to delta comfort plus than you would need to pay the difference. *HHW"

"Due to the upgrade in aircraft the seat selections will stay intact at no charge to you. *HHW"

Or am I missing something with that first part about seat inventory...

I'm leaning toward just going to my local Delta counter (like a 10min drive) and sorting it out there.

7001, N860DA, is scheduled to exit mods at SIN early on 3rd Feb. I would assume that the last non-modded ER, 7008, N867DA, will replace it, as it doesn't currently show any revenue flights after arriving from CDG>ATL today.

Forgive my ignorance, but there is no more C+ on the 777 correct?

Comfort + is being added to the already modded six aircraft, with the first one, 7007, N866DA, currently at ATL being updated. I don't know if 7001, N860DA, scheduled to exit SIN on 3rd Feb., and the others to follow, will have it already installed, or whether they will join the other five, all of which should have Comfort + installed by/after 1st March.

They're saying you get to keep your seat for free cause you were there before the new swap and are therefore grandfathered. But if you want to change to any other C+ seat on the plane, or if you decide to change your travel date, etc, then you lose your grandfather status and will have to pay for C+ if you want it.

7007 is the first to get the mod, and all the others, including those currently getting suites (7001/7002) will get the C+ mod later...likely March. Fortunately, 7008 will go in for suite mods (no C+) before 7007 finishes C+, so there won't be three versions of configs in service.

Interesting. Wonder why they did not do this when they did the rest of the plane? Poorly selling PS seats are my guess.

I have MSP - HND on 2/14 and no C+ is available.

They aren't removing or reducing PS. They are upgrading several economy rows to comfort+. DL has said that all new widebodies will have 4 seating types: Econ, C+, PS, D1

PS, and PS plus Comfort+ seat counts from the wiki:

Post-mods config is (temporarily) 28J/48W/220Y...and will become 28J/48W/90Y+/122Y (all modded aircraft will be reconfigured by/after March 1st)

I know this isn't technically brand new news, but.. it's amazing that they are putting 90 C+ seats on this plane. This is truly Delta's new flagship, not the A350 (although we'll see what Delta does with those).

When they removed a row, they had 32 inches to play with. Since each row of C+ has aprox 3 inches of extra pitch, that means 11 rows. Anything less would have been wasted space. I personally wouldn't chose a flagship based on its comfort+ offering tho

I haven’t flown the A350 yet, but from the planes I’ve flown I assume the 777 is tied for 4th in terms of “environmental” comfort — behind the A350, B787, and A330 — and I don’t think a large C+ seat count or even a 4-class confit can really make a 777 the flagship offering in light of those better baselines (in terms of pressurization, seat size, and other amenities). Presumably the 777X will match those factors, but until then...

As someone that has routinely faced sold-out C+ cabins on purchases as far out as 4 months I disagree. The C+ number is a huge boost and basically guarantees availability up until right before departure.

This is murky and can't find reputable sources behind it, but as I understand it Delta declined the humidifier options on the A350 - the only extra humidity is due to the fact that the pressurization is slightly higher. 2K extra pressurization is nice, but without the humidification option you'll still end up with dry throat/nose on Delta's A350s. And I'd rather have 3" of extra legroom and .5" of extra seat width than 2K of extra pressure any day of the week.

I used to fly a lot of United 787s and personally never noticed a big difference compared to their 777s, but I know this is very much a "your mileage may vary" depending on altitude and humidity sensitivity.

Yes. Obviously. Still it's a very long way from that to flagship
