Delta 777-200ER/LR Conversions to 7HD & 7HB. Pre-mods config is 37J/36W/218Y. For all the ERs and the first LR, post-mods config was initially 28J/48W/220Y (7HD/7HB). The post-mods config for all ERs and LRs is now 28J/48W/90Y+/122Y (7CD/7CB).
Modifications are taking place at SIN and the entry and exit dates are based on SIN time (GMT + 8 hrs). Comfort + installation was done at ATL on all the 7HD>7CD conversions, and on 7106 (7HB>7CB). The remaining 9 LRs had the C + cabins installed at SIN.

Why is that? Other than the 2K pressurization and slightly lower noise, the 777 is demonstrably better - either bigger seats (e.g., coach) or wider aisles (I assume the Polaris and Premium Select seats are the same as in the A350 meaning that the aisles are wider).
As of right now, C+ doesn't even exist on the A350. I think we can have a debate once they are retrofitted with C+ seats. Until then, the newly refurbed 777s are definitely the real flagship.
To be clear, I am not a Boeing fanboy. I would prefer to be on an A321 over a 737 any day of the week for example. Just saying that demonstrably the 777s are superior to Delta's A350 in quantifiable ways at present. I understand the "soft benefits" of pressurization but those are harder to quantify.

I'm scheduled to fly CDG-ATL on a newly retrofitted 777 with D1 Suites. When I booked the flight, it was quite clearly being marketed as a "Suites" D1 cabin but I got a notification on ExpertFlyer that the aircraft was swapped from a "D7L" to a "7CC" on Jan 5th. After the switch, the seat map no longer looked like the D1 Suites, just regular old D1. However, on the trip details, it had the word "Suites" written on the itinerary. I called the DM line and even the agent was confused. She confirmed that the plane is being marketed and sold as D1 Suites but that everything else looked like standard D1.
Yesterday, I got another ExpertFlyer notification that the aircraft had been swapped back to a "D7L".
Any idea what's going on here? Any chance that the aircraft actually won't have the D1 Suites on it?
Thanks!

Wish they'd decide and leave it alone.

Ok fair. You originally said that 11 rows of C+ makes this plane the flagship. That statement, IMO, is absurd. Now you seem to be clarifying that the new 777s are really nice planes, and the extra large C+ cabin might just be the piece that helps it just beat out the A350. That is a much more reasonable argument, once again IMO. Even tho when you talk about Polaris seating on a plane with D1 suites it's hard to take you seriously.
And Polaris was a slip of the tongue - I know Delta One != Polaris.

I stepped away from this thread of late as I had several writing assignments to complete.
I am now looking to buy in the next weeks and wondering where I can find routes for the modded 777s. I did not see it in the Wiki so must I cull threw all the posts (start at the end and read backwards)?

DL has 2 major groups of 777's. The last of the B777-200ER's just went to SIN for adding D1 suites. Of the other 7, 6 are back in service and the 7th has been at SIN (for its conversion) for a few weeks now. DL's other group of 10 B777-200LR's (Delta scheduling calls these "777"), 9 of the 10 are all "old layout" (no D1), and the other is in service with D1 suites. Current B777-200ER (D1 layouts) are on the following routes: MSP-HND-MSP, MSP-CDG-MSP. Once in a while the ATL-CDG-ATL is also uses the same aircraft cabin layout. The first major equipment changes will be happening March 1st. I hope that helps you out.

Having said that you will still see plenty of marketing done with the A330, A32X, B777, B767, B757, B737, B717, MD88, MD90.
Perfect example, go watch the mini-series on the CS. The make it clear which airplane is the "flagship"

I'm surprised that N866DA has already been at ATL for 10 days, for the installation of the Comfort + cabin. Comparing the interim and new seats maps, it doesn't seem like it would be that big of a job to take this long, assuming no other mx is being performed, but what do I know? Perhaps there is also the need for a supplemental STC to be signed off with this new cabin?

Update on my MSP-HND in March situation:
Went to the airport on 2/1, they said our seats were confirmed, we owe zero, all set.
Logged in today 2/7 to check the flight and they re-assigned our plane back to the pre-refit 777 (no longer lists C+ on the seat plan).
DL120 - We were moved from 37E/F (side by side with an aisle) to 33 F/G (two aisle seats) so I immediately grabbed a pair of side by side seats before they filled up.
DL121 - Still shows the refit plane with no changes...yet.

Sorry if there is a better place to post this.
I'm taking a refit 777 in April in D1 Suites - ATL > NRT with my wife and we're obviously in the B/C seats. My question is - is an even row or odd row better for us to actually see each other and interact with each other sitting side by side? It looks like some rows have the "window" more towards the front and some more towards the back. Is this the case? I can't figure it out based on the seat map.
