That's... what it is? Are you expecting them to filet it on board?

I just thought about the smell of someone cleaning and gutting a fish on board.

is there a way to pre-order if you don't get the email. RUC cleared yesterday for a flight Thursday, and no email.

Try DM on twitter. Also, if your RUC hasn't fully re-ticketed yet; might be worth calling in to have it pushed through. That might help trigger the email.

Several people have reported success with calling in.

Got it done through twitter. Thanks for the suggestion. My first time on Twitter! Thanks for bringing me into this century.

Based upon suggestions here, last month we used Twitter to DM Delta, about a special menu, ad then also reconfimred the other's regular chosen menu
It was easy, amazingly fast, and all was as expected ("hoped for"?) when the meal service started.

Same thing for the return flight, although they did reply that they "already" had it all noted.

Dinner later this week:

JAPANESE COBB SALAD
lemongrass chicken, soba noodles, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, sesame snap peas, hearts of palm, romaine hearts and an Asian sesame dressing
or the ubiquitous crab cakes
CRAB CAKES
served over brown basmati rice with a corn and bean succotash

Received last night for a TATL D1 flight on Thursday. Braised short rib seems to have an OK reputation so I'll give it a try.

I've spent days trying to pre-order a meal for ATL-FCO in the class formerly known as business. I knew I would fail because I read this thread, but I had to try. I called the Gold number and was on hold about an hour. They can't even tell me it's impossible, they just don't know. Promised a call-back tomorrow morning, presumably to tell me it's impossible. It doesn't appear to be a spam filter issue because I get tons of junk emails and useful emails from Delta. Do I have to debase myself and use Twitter or does that only work for special meals and not pre-ordering? I really just want to know the options to decide whether to pick a toddler meal for my 2.5 year old or get the regular if there is a pasta option that isn't some fancy pasta she'll refuse to eat.

If you do choose the Twitter route, yes, they can do regular pre-ordering too.

I am not "on Twitter". However, DH is an occasional user.

So I used his account to DM Delta, which means it's not public, etc. I did this for his Special Diet request AND for my choice of the regular offerings. Everything was as it should be when we were served on board.

VERY easy. Their response time was astonishingly fast, but that may have been an exception (?).

Barring significant IRROPS where they are prioritizing people actively traveling that day, getting a reasonably quick (within a few hours) resolution like this via Twitter is pretty standard.

I also don't use Twitter regularly and have had my beef with DL Twitter specifically in the past. But, it is the perfect channel for non-time-sensitive stuff like this.

There have been others in this thread steadfastly resistant to Twitter in general. All I'd say on that is tou don't have to like it, but realize it is a tool available to you as a customer, and it is the right tool for certain situations.
