Delta's Operational move from T5 to T2/3 at LAX:
Delta has moved to: T2 and T3 with eventual connector to TBIT (note: there is currently only airside bus service to stay securely between T2 & T3, the walking connector has not been built yet.)
Where to check bags: As of January 13, 2020, non-Sky Priority customers must check their bag(s) at the terminal their flight departs from, unless their flight departs from TBIT, in which case, they must check their bag at Terminal 2. Sky priority customers can check their bag at either terminal. See this link for more information.
Date(s) of move: May 12, 2017 - May 17, 2017
Here is a helpful chart from Delta which covers all Domestic / Int'l. transfer combos (AND TOTAL TRANSFER TIMES) between T2, T3 & TBIT.
New Bus Routes will help with connections:
- Circular Airfield Bus between TBIT, T2 and T3
- Airfield Bus between T2 and T3
Bus Map
Will there be a SkyClub: Yes, there is one in each terminal. Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse will remain.
- The SkyClub in T2 opened on May 20th (Former AC Maple Leaf Lounge)
pix in post 1058
- The SkyClub in T3 opened on May 24th (Former VX Loft)

Where Will The Delta One Check In Lounge Be Located:
In T2, there is a small Delta One seating area with refreshments. An agent will escort you from the check in/lounge area through a back pathway up stairs to TSA precheck. Its a shorter walk to check-in at SkyPriority and easier if you have a carry on and don't want to drag it up a flight of stairs. 11/3/17)
Airlines joining DL in T2/3 for landside and departures:
- AeroMexico (T2)
- Virgin Atlantic (T2)
- WestJet (T3)
Landside T2 only, departures from TBIT:
- Virgin Australia
- Volaris
Landside T3 only, departures from TBIT:
- Avianca/Taca
- Copa (effective April 7)
- InterJet
Will there be secure links between T2-T3 and TBIT: Yes, the final plan is to let pax walk between all airside.

I think a really impressive part of all this is that many of the DL employees helping with the move are volunteering:
“I’m a Delta person through and through. It was important for me to be here. I just wanted to be part of it. It’s been hard work and long hours, but I’m grateful to have the opportunity to help passengers.”
How cool is that?

Moving to brand new already completed building is wholly different then moving buildings while in active use on both ends.

I'm dreading having to fly out of T3. I suspect that's going to be the terminal they stuff all the regional/west coast flights in, so I fear I'll be condemned to sit out all my future rolling delays for Seattle flights in an environment that's even less comfortable than the T6 regional gates were.

I checked in this morning at T2 priority counter, as there was no one at the delta one counter. I've been informed that the lounge in T3 is behind schedule and didn't open as expected today. I decided to check out the T2 temp lounge, before going into virgin Atlantic's lounge. Delta's is a bunch of chairs and prepackaged sandwiches and other breakfast items, but still a better selection that the virgin lounge.
It's expected to be a 20 minute total to get from T2 to T3, if you happen to miss the shuttle.
Someone should inform T2 tsa that there is a secured shuttle, as they were warning me that I have to go through security again in T3.

Flew into LAX last night on the DCA flight. We taxied to a remote section of the airport for 20 min and then went to our gate. They brought us into 59 in T5. You could tell it was the last night for Delta. With the exceptions of the monitors almost every other piece of Delta signage was taken down. They had about half a dozen of those "helpers" in yellow vests at baggage claim.

"The acquisition costs for the planned improvements from Delta will be recovered through future terminal rates and charges pursuant to the Rate Agreement." [Emphasis added]
Following that, the Board Report enumerates the acquisition costs for the first phase of the project. The acquisition costs for the first phase total $462+ million and include both the buyback amount and the amount for rent credits. (The remainder of the $1.9 B is still subject to a Board vote.)
In short, even though it appears with the rent credits that LAWA is absorbing a majority of the capital costs for the T2/T3 project, that is not what is actually happening.

Flying delta first. First time in the virgin lounge. And doesn't seem like this is a normal schedule for them. That's why it looked like it did. A friend that always flies virgin told me the same as you described. So must be a temp thing or a move thing.

As in DL domestic F?? How does that qualify for VS lounge entrance? Only pax on US-UK flights in J or with DL PM/DM status are supposed to have access to VS Clubhouse's.

I can see from online pictures the table service you described. I didn't see any menus, just so the light spread.

I assume that's the only virgin lounge in T2, right ? I'm flying domestic f connecting to international D1, I am PM too. But there were others getting the voucher/pass to access the virgin lounge as well.
