Delta's Operational move from T5 to T2/3 at LAX:

Delta has moved to: T2 and T3 with eventual connector to TBIT (note: there is currently only airside bus service to stay securely between T2 & T3, the walking connector has not been built yet.)

Where to check bags: As of January 13, 2020, non-Sky Priority customers must check their bag(s) at the terminal their flight departs from, unless their flight departs from TBIT, in which case, they must check their bag at Terminal 2. Sky priority customers can check their bag at either terminal. See this link for more information.

Date(s) of move: May 12, 2017 - May 17, 2017

Here is a helpful chart from Delta which covers all Domestic / Int'l. transfer combos (AND TOTAL TRANSFER TIMES) between T2, T3 & TBIT.

New Bus Routes will help with connections:
- Circular Airfield Bus between TBIT, T2 and T3
- Airfield Bus between T2 and T3

Bus Map

Will there be a SkyClub: Yes, there is one in each terminal. Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse will remain.
- The SkyClub in T2 opened on May 20th (Former AC Maple Leaf Lounge)
pix in post 1058
- The SkyClub in T3 opened on May 24th (Former VX Loft)

https://www.delta.com/content/www/en...d-updates.html

Where Will The Delta One Check In Lounge Be Located:

Delta will temporarily offer dedicated check-in space in Terminal 2 (first door closest to T1) while a long-term Delta One experience is finalized.
In T2, there is a small Delta One seating area with refreshments. An agent will escort you from the check in/lounge area through a back pathway up stairs to TSA precheck. Its a shorter walk to check-in at SkyPriority and easier if you have a carry on and don't want to drag it up a flight of stairs. 11/3/17)

Airlines joining DL in T2/3 for landside and departures:
- AeroMexico (T2)
- Virgin Atlantic (T2)
- WestJet (T3)

Landside T2 only, departures from TBIT:
- Virgin Australia
- Volaris

Landside T3 only, departures from TBIT:
- Avianca/Taca
- Copa (effective April 7)
- InterJet

Will there be secure links between T2-T3 and TBIT: Yes, the final plan is to let pax walk between all airside.

That overall and with most for T3. I'll rephrase. I don't know what can be done without rebuilding T2 from the bottom up, and that's currently not the plan I believe for T2 unlike T3

Right, so....

I've had 3 years of nonsense trying to get from front door (or check-in if I had a bag) up to security, through there and into the terminal to the lounge.

At least DL will make sure there is a properly functioning TSA line among the cluster of lines but getting up the stairs/escalator can be a challenge depending on volume of pax and time of day.

Also, there is a single, small elevator past the duty-free on the right hand side which takes you up to the lounges I may using it going up but I just take the stairs on the way down. Not sure how that will work if the volume of pax increases.

On the plus side, the terminal is newly renovated as I posted earlier, and bright inside. I also hope DL will clean up the gate areas as they are currently extremely cluttered especially in the multi-gate corner. Not enough seating and sheer fun when the inbound pax deplane and have to trip over the pax waiting to board.

These photos are from just as you pass through security upstairs.

This is the view coming from the gates in the corner at the opposite end of the terminal from the security.

Then there is a photo of a main staircase that takes you up to the level where the lounges are. There are 2 of them IIRC and I use them to go down to the gates.

These are a couple of photos of what was the NZ and then AC lounge. NZ had some great wall murals and nicer decor. Food stations were always in the middle. Bar wall and fridges are on one side (opposite the windows)

Washrooms and showers are on the same side but behind doors.

Plus a view out the window to the runways I mentioned earlier.

I'm so glad that DL is moving to T2/T3. I used to love coming in and out of T2 with NW and Pan Am without having to drive through the airport, as is necessary with T5. In addition, it is a homecoming because I believe DL will be taking back the old NW World Club, subsequent KL/AF Lounge space in T2, as well as the Air Canada lounge, which I believe was the old Pan Am Clipper Club which I really liked! DL/NW/Pan Am are back together again at LAX.

The old NW WorldClub is now the VS Clubhouse. Definitely not getting that back.

I could be wrong, but I assume 19B is the combination of renovation and the 20(?) year lease that goes with it, and other LA paid enhancements that are part of the project.

There is no way in the world DL is paying $19B to renovate a terminal.

Seems like no major glitches so far! First DL flight at T3 arrived early. First DL flight at T2 will arrive tomorrow morning. Some great pics of the move: http://news.delta.com/b-roll-deltas-lax-move

Will these terminal maps continue to be accurate?

Also, how do you get between T2 and T3 airside? Is there an above-ground passageway, or is it a tunnel like between T5 and T6?

All have been answered many times. Yes the stores/layout are the same, and as is noted multiple times, there's airside shuttles till connectors are built.

Delta will be operating an airside bus. At present there is no way to walk between T2 and T3 while remaining airside.
