"No electronic ticket" after SWU/RUC's applied

Currently on a MR. First leg was MCO-ATL-SEA-ANC, booked in V fare. Second leg was ANC-SEA-JFK booked in a K fare. About three weeks out I applied a swu and RUC to the respective tickets. There was upgrade space available on all legs (would ya look at that?!), tickets confirmed into Business class etc. Full seat selection, etc.

Go to check in for the first leg on app and I get an error message that I have no electronic ticket and to contact an agent. I call the DM line and a concerned agent has it reissued. Ok, reissues happen, odd, but nothing to be too concerned about.

Go to check in for the second leg, same thing! No electronic ticket. I tweet to DLAssist (as I'm on the MCO-ATL leg) and they respond "That's odd. Please allow me one moment to contact our reissue desk to see if they are able to help. Thanks *TD" check the app moments later and I can check in but I'm in coach! Back to the K fare, no SWU applied. Great. Call the DM line when I land and they proactively put me into business class again, as a J and F fare and say they'll "work it out later with the SWU's".

Underlying issue seems to be reissuing tix with certs. I was almost certain that when I was confirmed with the OP space available that they HAD reissued the ticket. The swu and RUC I used showed as "closed" in my delta. Any one have similar issues? Can't tell if this is a DL it error or if an agent coded my swu/RUC wrong maybe?

We had RUC's applied when we purchased the tickets. They were originally issued with a standard 006 ticket number but they were reissued when the RUC's were applied. The reissued tickets are a different number (as expected) but they also have a hyphen and a 2 digit number after the standard ticket number. That's probably why the check-in process can't handle them.

We're not flying that trip until December but I'll stay on top of it thanks to your info.

OP should start by looking at the history of ticket numbers, starting with the original ticket that was issued at purchase. Every time a ticket is reissued, you should get an email with a new receipt showing the ticket number. It's a good idea to follow this and check that tickets have been reissued well in advance of travel.

DL app-- "oops sorry you don't have an electronic ticket, please check in with agent"

First time using a RUC for a flight. Just got notification from the app that my boarding pass was available (as I am now inside 24 hours for flight), but when I go to 'today" tab of the app the QR code is missing and it says to tap to complete check in. Of course, when I tapped, I received the message in my thread title. Tried several times. Experiences/thoughts or do I really have to check in with an agent solely because using a RUC? BTW the app does show gate info, flight info and my upgraded seat selection just won't produce the QR code.

Thanks

Probably should call them. It sounds like maybe they messed up re-associating/re-issuing your ticket. IME most agents these days don't know how to fix ticketing issues, so I would prob try to handle it before you get to the airport.

I don't think it is a big issue and seems to happen pretty frequently when applying a RUCs. I've had it happen when I used them recently and had no problems checking in at airport. -- Online Checkin Not Working
Looks like it's been happening for a number of years -- "No electronic ticket" after SWU/RUC's applied

My guess is that DL failed to reissue your ticket after confirming the RUC upgrade; it could be in the reissue queue. Did you get an emailed receipt with a new ticket number after the upgrade?

Call DL and have them fix this now. You don't want to risk missing the flight when airport agents try to fix the problem.

Why is there even a "reissue queue?" Is it that hard to reissue it manually after applying the RUC?

What's even the point of having a queue if it doesn't process by check in time?

DL creates so many of its own problems by not allowing GUC/RUC to be applied online

It shouldn't be hard for an experienced agent, but many newer DL agents don't know how to do this.

I had this happen to me last weekend, used an RUC to upgrade on LAX-JFK. Called it in and the rep mentioned something about having to reissue the ticket. A minute or two later and it was fixed.

Yup - using an upgrade cert will cause this if it clears and the ticket is not yet reissued.

Also if the system auto-rebooks you due to a delay or cancellation sometimes this happens when the old flights don't get cleaned up properly.

Y'all were correct--called and got a Diamond line agent who mentioned the first agent who upgraded me and applied the RUC back in December did not properly re-issue the ticket. Interestingly, the Diamond agent mentioned she could not do it herself and needed the re-issue desk. We (her) were on hold waiting for a re-issue specialist for about 20 minutes. She did a great job of keep coming back to me while on hold every few minutes to tell me she was still waiting. Once she got through, done in two minutes. Certainly doesn't seem to be the most efficient system, but all's well that ends well.

Thanks again.

This happens quite often. Always call to sort it out, don't risk airport issues when time is limited.

Better yet, watch for the receipt as an indication that the ticket has been reissued (or click to see the receipt from your itinerary). To avoid blizzard and meltdown issues, call in advance if the ticket hasn't been reissued.

This is especially important if partner flights are involved. Most partners with cancel a reservation or confirmed upgrade if the ticket hasn't been properly reissued in at most three days.

In fairness most of the older agents didn't know how to do it either.

Incorrect handling/processing of RUCs has been consistent for the past decade it seems.
