This is a retarded idea.
The time spent deplaning is due to the narrow aisles blocking people from moving while people get their bags from the overhead bins.
To hold up people in Coach implies that they think there's a "logjam" at the door.
Truly moronic of any airline or FA that chooses to do this, imo.

"Played?" What? If in FC, it's a NICE gesture from the FA's to let you get out a second or two earlier. If that bothered you, I'm sorry, but that's a pretty petty complaint.

At doorways in America, we alternate when there are two queues to go through one, so I am a bit uncomfortable getting this perk. I have noticed how international carriers do this is a formal way, the casual "maybe I will, maybe I won't" style on DL is a small glitch.
To any coach passenger more than a few rows back in coach, it makes no difference: the F passengers will be gone whichever way they do it.

I've been in F many times when they do it, and I'm not a big fan. It doesn't speed up the deplaning of F that much, maybe you get off 30 seconds or a minute earlier, and it slows down the deplaning of the rest of the plane by a minute or two. Also I feel like an a-hole as I walk out while the rest of the plane is being held back.

I am ambivalent, when it happens I like it but it doesn't really make that much difference. My view: either do it or don't do it, but be consistent. Its the uneven application that is annoying.

Years ago, it was absolutely policy on AA on the 757 and the DC10's as well. I'd say it was 50/50 as to whether it actually happened. I think it's a nice touch. The F/Y merge at 2L can be brutal.
