Cancel and rebook on TK?

I got in on the $525RT fare, so unfortunately the cost difference would be pretty significant. Plus this was going to put me over the top for GM requalification. Looks like 9hrs in AMS is gonna happen.

You may be right. The arrival times eastbound are awful, plus it's about 3 1/2 hours from AMS or CDG on a small plane with no IFE, seat selection, etc., and more important, no chance of getting upgraded or put in a preferred seat. Great fun after an overnight TATL.

Only $150 or so more, but TK clearly won't help with MQMs. But 9hours in AMS? There are better connections from JFK.

Yes, but I think I'm gonna do your rebooked itin and do the short layover in CDG on the way there and arrive at 2:30PM. Since DL is cutting my mini-vacation short by making me leave IST early Sun morn, I'm going to make the most of it and bike around AMS on that Sun instead.

I get the impression that a lot of people in this thread will be traveling X-CDG-IST on 11/21 (arriving 11/22). Correct?

Uncle Lars Jul 25, 2012 10:44 am

Just called Diamond Desk and they refused to change my early January itinerary. Asked the agent to try to book the flights and she was quite adamant that they cannot be booked because they are X'ed out for an aircraft change. I didn't pursue whether it would be a 777 or maybe an A380....sigh...

On the positive side, she did not neglect to ask if I needed any accommodations in IST!

I am currently, but debating going out the day before.

GM desk didn't let me change either...took her 10 mins to look it up, and said they haven't gotten any notice internally of the change and AF/KL need to first approve rerouting rules. Said to try again on Monday as things seem to be in flux.

How does FT find out about this stuff before airline employees do? Amazing.

I am booked for 11/10-11/14 so I just made it before the cut. When I first saw the thread on airliners.net I started researching connection options and they were all pretty horrible to the point I would probably have cancelled.

Many of us booked the $383 fare for that time. This sucks had I known I would have to connect would have booked a longer trip. Will be interesting to see how long before I get notified.

When a flight has been cancelled, I have found DL to be fairly flexible (though you might need a supervisor). I think you could make the argument (in the nicest way) that the new schedule basically takes a day away, and could they do you a favor and move the outbound (or return) one day? If travelling around a holiday you might have trouble on any connecting US domestic flight, but they should be able to do this TATL. Especially if you have high elite status.

I'm on the phone with DM line now, of course they are insisting it's canceled. Then they said sold out. So I tell them to book me a FC ticket on 12/10, 12/26, 3/10 and go ahead and ticket it. "she's working on it" lol of course the flight isn't listed.

All of us have 300.00 Coach tickets right now, current coach prices are $2500

MR_MAMA Jul 25, 2012 2:07 pm

I was just told that is will be a Sunday only flight starting Oct 30. That if there are still flights listed they just have not been pulled yet. They offered to rebook me but I declined as I want to look at routing options on my own first. They said they did not know when it was going to be "officially" announced as she still see the seats as zeroed out, which she kept referring to as sold out.

khaden Jul 25, 2012 2:11 pm

I'm booked JFK-IST on 11/10 returning on 11/14 so when should we expect to hear something from Delta assuming that the rumors are true.
