I just noticed my IST itinerary has been updated. However, when I want to change the return leg to something else than what has been preselected, the system wants to charge me a change fee PLUS the difference in the fare! :mad:

Edit: Half hour on the phone and still no CSA to take my call! :td:

This whole thing has been terribly handled by Delta. Not impressed.

Hope you get an agent soon, I imagine the delays are due to the weather in the Northeast.

I just finished my call with the International Reissue Desk. They were able to change my return itinerary to the flights I prefered.

Regarding the weather in the Northeast, it's always the same in summer. DL should know by now that summer brings lots of thunderstorms and that NYC is disproportionally affected. Meaning: expand call lines in summer and run a thunderstorm-proof schedule by utilizing other hubs over JFK and LGA.

I did change the origin city, but am still quite annoyed I had to pay the fare difference. Wasn't much, but it is the principle!

Was not charged any difference in airfare nor a change fee, call back and speak to a supervisor

I can't even initiate a change online, it directs me to call.:(

With an international itinerary, I always recommend calling. Look for the flights you want to change to in advance and then make the call to complete needed changes.

Why is that? Assuming the website is functional and can make the change correctly, I'd rather click through and select what I want in 5 minutes' time... rather than 20 minutes on hold, roll the dice on whether the agent is competent enough to process correctly, etc.

Of course, I'm left without any choice in this instance.

With the DM Desk and Medallion Desk agents before then, I never had an issue with reissuing itineraries on international flights.

In the end, I do not often trust DL IT... ;)

Successfully changed my flights to the exact choices I wanted. Going JFK-CDG-IST-AMS-JFK, with a 9 hr layover in AMS to make up for the lost 10 hours in IST due to the nonstop cancellation. It took about 10 mins to get connected to someone on the GM line, and about 20 mins of waiting for the rep to confirm the changes.

He first said the outbound was no problem to change (1hr20mins in CDG), but had to get a supervisor to approve the return. I told him it was an option that showed up when I looked up IST-JFK on delta.dumb, and that seemed to be what was needed to push it through.

Disappointed my trip to IST was cut a bit short, but haven't been to AMS for 6 yrs so I'm excited to bike around the city, eat some treats at a coffeeshop, and visit the Henieken factory again.

I do fine with the phone as well since Delta's IT can have issues, but there is always tweeting @DeltaAssist which work very well.

Tonight I ended up spending 1 hour 45 minutes on the phone (3 calls) getting our flights changed to what I wanted, which of course still is cutting it short on the last day. First time after the first agent had to transfer me to have it manually changed, the guy who picked up mumbled so bad I could hardly understand him. After he came back from hold, he said it was all taken care of, but when I asked him to read back the changes to confirm, he just mumbled something about getting an email and hung up. Checked my itinerary online and it turns out he made incorrect changes.

Second time the agent answering the call, after walking her through it all, she has to transfer me to have it manually reissued. 15 minutes on hold again and the call drops. Called back a third time and the answering agent was great, put me on hold while he got help to make the change, confirmed my phone number so he could call me if the call dropped, etc. Still took 20m or so to get worked out.

So yeah, I'd sure love to have a reliable website that worked every time, correctly, instead of the telephone game that is no less certain. Maybe I'm just unlucky.

Anyway, looking forward to our first visit to IST now...

I wonder if DL would consider pulling JFK-IST completely, and leaving it to AF/KL via CDG/AMS.
