I already hang up and called twice. I'm getting annoyed.
I guess I could wait a few days, then change it online myself.

Depends on how specific you are on flight and seat availability. I wanted a specific DL flight, and on the return, there are now only 2 reclining EC seats left that are together (on 2 side). Yes, am in the back on this itinerary

I'm in biz.

Shouldn't be to hard to get the flight and seat you want then. Flights seem to be generally light up front. They were selling J JFK to IST at around $2050 a few hours ago (via AMS and/or CDG).

Why does DL seem to push towards AMS and CDG for connections and not FCO? AZ is in the TATL joint venture. correct?

I am not able to upgrade ATH-FCO next month with my M/SWU ticket, but I rarely have problems doing so with flights out of AMS. Of course, CDG is another story.

Actually I should mention that FCO did come up, but was more expensive than connecting in CDG or AMS. I'm not a fan of connecting in FCO, as the other hubs generally (depending on destination) have more flights to utilize in case of a misconnect. OTOH, some of the AZ birds have completely flat bed seats in J.

I am on DL72 JFK-IST on Nov 20 and the return DL73 on Nov 25.

Currently, @DeltaAssist says the flight is still operational, but there is no availability.

I have my alternative preferences ready to go though.

Actually, I think that AZ is well beyond "some" for their flat bed modifications. It appears that they've got them all done now or maybe there's still one ghetto AP A330 out there, but it will be gone soon. Even the 777s have been updated now!

The DL seat map application will not display the seat map for DL 72 on 11/20. It has nothing to do with being sold out. It further indicates the flight is going to disappear.

Probably because in order for AZ to approve revenue sharing it's still being "evaluated" by AZ's pathetic Rome management

Well, I guess the rumor is no longer a rumor. ClipperDelta or anyone else in a position to know, why doesn't DL decrease the route frequency to 4 or 5 times a week rather than terminate completely? I assume that most of the IST ground people are contract workers or else work for AF/KL/AZ.

Looks like there will be plenty of slack in the 767ER fleet to allow the interior mods to be made fairly rapidly.

Losing money no days a week is better than losing money 4 or 5 times a week. If they can lose less money by sticking the planes in storage, it is still better than losing lots of money flying them unprofitably.

It surprises me a bit how long the data transfer takes from the scheduling department to the reservation system. Are these not connected by a high speed data link? You would think that the moment a flight is canceled, that info is immediately tansfered to reservations where the itineraries containing that flight are updated.

This is disappointing, but not surprising.

Based on observations, there has been a huge difference between loads in peak and off peak seasons.

We frequently see oversells in the summer (Op-up in both directions this month! ) and then they seem to have trouble giving tickets away in the $600 range as soon as October rolls around.

+1 for updating the BE seats on the 763s too.

Indeed. I just flew the AZ 777 from FCO to JFK in J. I would say it is probably the BEST J experience out there right now aside from CX/SQ. Light years above AF/KL/DL. Fantastic seats, great food - served in real courses. Service was top-notch.

The lounge in FCO was a dump but that isnt a big part of the experience for me.

By all means, give AZ a try.
