But TK has lower RASM considering I could have booked a G fare JNB-JKT for less than $800 rt ai no tricks.
With tricks I could get $320...

RASM is not computed on a one day pricing sample, much less on a beyond market. Not sure what a ticket from JNB to JKT has to do with JFKIST anyway...

I enjoyed flying the new 76W on this route with the lie flats back in Feb. Sure enjoy it more than connecting in AMS.

Connecting from TK to UA is very inconvenient as it involves traveling between JFK and EWR. In fact, TK should consider moving to EWR.

For many in the NYC market EWR is less attractive than JFK.

Not if one connects TK/UA at ORD, FRA, or MUC

That's an understatement!

Or IAD.

It really depends on where you are and your mode of transportation. I live in Queens and work near Wall St. I almost always use public transit.

From home it's LGA>JFK>EWR. I can be door to door at Faneuil Hall within 2 hours.

From work it's EWR>JFK>LGA. If I had to take a car service then JFK over EWR. LGA is a problem as its only reachable by bus/car so you can never avoid traffic.

Starting to stray a bit from the topic of this thread...

I wouldn't take that as firm evidence -- I've been booked on flights that were later dropped or suspended.

Just last night, I was flying home and playing around with a Thanksgiving trip to IST and was finding low business availability on 11/21-11/25. Checked this morning I can't find the route on those dates at Delta.com so I checked ITA and a calendar search shows non-stop JFK-IST on Fri, Sat, Sun, Tue, Wed through 11/17. Nothing after.

On IST-JFK, I see Sat, Sun, Mon, Wed, Thu returns through 11/18. Nothing after.

Dang... I was having some trouble locating good domestic award segments to JFK but was pretty excited about 100k in business non-stop on perfect dates last night.

I'm also booked on Thanksgiving weekend, and as of this morning I too can't find the nonstop. Tried to dummy book and nothing came up. My itinerary is still intact, but they might not have gotten around to that yet. This blows, as the connections get you into IST hours later and kind of kill the day.

Wow, looks like FCO is gone too.

Delta-operated JFK-FCO was gone last winter as well, so not a new move - I think it's gone after Nov 13 or so, and will resume March 30. DL operated by AZ will still be there. This will be the first winter where there will actually be NO US carrier metal at all on NYC-FCO (UA has made EWR-FCO seasonal, and AA is keeping JFK-FCO seasonal as well).

Looks like last IST-JFK for the year will be on Nov 18; DL72 looks like it will be resuming March 30, 2013.

There are no sacred cows anymore, and Delta has basically given up chasing market share....

This is a big change. Looks like they reduced MAD similar to last year. But they did keep BCN. I wonder what else is going? DL 72 has been on the schedule for a long time, and the connections via AMS, CDG and FCO take 3 - 4 hours longer and kill the day.

Well, Vuelos was asking where the new BE flight LAX-HNL was coming from...

Well, I guess the rumor is no longer a rumor. ClipperDelta or anyone else in a position to know, why doesn't DL decrease the route frequency to 4 or 5 times a week rather than terminate completely? I assume that most of the IST ground people are contract workers or else work for AF/KL/AZ.

Looks like there will be plenty of slack in the 767ER fleet to allow the interior mods to be made fairly rapidly.
