Trashed Airplane Garbage and trash filled the seats of an Airbus A332 aircraft after the conclusion of a Philadelphia Eagles charter flight from Seattle to Philadelphia last year. Photograph posted by FlyerTalk member tod701 on December 12, 2013.

Saw this today at a Starbucks - guy with his feet up (shoes removed, just socks on) on the table that people put their food and beverages on and my first thought was of this thread and "I guess that disgusting acts don't only happen on DL jets."

Always assume tables are filthy.

Even if they have just been "cleaned" with the rag used on other tables.
Some kid with leaking diaper may have just sat there or someone with a bad virus may have just sneezed on counter or tables.

Expat in Lusaka

Was waiting for a meeting in the Intercontinental coffee lounge when this privileged NGO type, with accompanying T-shirt proclaiming his usefulness, took off his sandals and put his feet up on the table. I wouldn't expect this at home let alone at a top international hotel. He seemed shocked that I dared berate him. Even when I was 25, I wouldn't do that, no matter what the place.

Would do it again happily.

Everyone has different social norms. I'm tired of hearing because I think it's bad form that I have the right to complain. I agree disgusting, however I feel what you did was worse. Don't get to impose your view on others.

I think you do have the right to complain to persons who have the potential to do harm to you by exposing you to whatever nasty germs he might be exposing you to. Just because you feel comfortable doing something at home does not mean it's acceptable to do it in a public space.

Honestly I'm more offended by the fact that he was wearing white socks with what look to be Birkenstocks. I've never understood why people think its fashionably acceptable to wear socks and sandals/flip-flops. Is the rationale "I want to wear socks to keep my feet warm.....but I want to look like I just jumped out of bed and put on whatever was laying around?"

I don't see a problem as long as you took off your shoes and were wearing clean socks.

If more of us spoke up about this kind of behaviour - not in a blaming way, of course, just a nice instruction to a poor hillbilly - there would be fewer examples of boorish behaviour. Idiots push society as far as they can, and if nobody stops them, they just push some more.

Exactly. You could be perfectly civil about it....

"Hi, you certainly look comfortable! But you know, other guests might get upset to know your feet are on a surface that people eat off of... I just wanted to give you a heads up before someone throws a fit *sketchy wink*" and then awkwardly laugh it off and change the subject and then run away. I think a lot of people aren't being intentionally rude, they just aren't thinking. Especially in public spaces, many don't see strangers as actual people, so it's nice to remind them.
