It’s 1D on the first flight out the next morning.” Now he explodes and we finally got to hear the magic words . . . “DYKWIA? I’m a 2MM DM who’s flown 150,000 miles so far this year and that’s just the backup flight they booked in case I couldn’t make this one.” GA politely let him know that this meant he was standby on this flight and was only confirmed on the one the next day, and to please step aside so the rest of us could board. The whole boarding area started laughing at the karma being dealt out.

First, welcome to FT!

Second, what a tool that guy is.

Third, I'm a little confused. Did he actually scan his pass? If so, and he hadn't been cleared from standby, wouldn't it have red-beeped at him? Did the GA tell him that he was on the wrong flight only after scanning his pass? The story makes it sound like the GA took his pass from him and told him he was in 1D [then explosion occurs] before ever scanning it. Is that right? I've just never really had a GA tell me where my seat is or even comment on it that I can remember. They always just either take the BP (if paper) and turn it over to scan or point for me to place my phone on the scanner.

Thanks

GA got the red beep when she scanned his pass, but I think she thought it was just a seat change from an upgrade. It was only when she looked at it closer that she saw it was for the wrong flight. Maybe she was jerking him around, or maybe she was just in a hurry after working a 14 hour day when the computers were going nuts. Whichever it was, no way was she going to bend over backwards to help this guy after he'd made such an ... out of himself.

And I regularly have the GA announce my seat when I scan my phone, right along with their standard "thanks for being a PM" spiel.

They can't be sky priority

Checking in at the Gainesville, Florida airport. If you've ever been here you know the airport is small. There was three of us in the sky priority line and some guy walks around us and tells the lady at the desk "there is no way they can be sky priority"

also to note: apparently if your not wearing a suit. You apparently can't have status with an airline.

A coupl'a years ago, I walked into the baggage office here at PIT where many of the agents know me. There were 2 women working at the time. I said hi, and was chatting with the one I knew. Suddenly, the other one says.....

"Oh, I remember you, now. You're the one who's a Diamond, but doesn't LOOK LIKE A DIAMOND!"
