A couple of years ago, people were reporting something like 20,000 miles for nonfunctioning AVOD in TPAC BE, which I think is really excessive. No sound is not quite as bad in that you can find a movie with subtitles, watch the map, and play games without sound.

I've received 10k before for a TATL flight in BE. The screen had a small crack and was not calibrated ... this was from the purser on the flight though, not via DL.com.

Was this coach and/or EC or in BE? I assume you were GM at the time. Ex post compensation tends to depend on elite status while on board compensation packets are different for coach versus BE/FC.

ADDED: This is response to post #10 above, 2500 miles on LAX-SYD.

DUB. It's not at all so rare on this route.

mmm - I nearly always go into SNN as grand children are in Galway. Going Saturday as a matter of fact. ATL-DUB or JFK-DUB? 757 obviously if JFK-DUB

DUB seems to frequently have lots of OPUPs, even of kettles.

Business load is always low on Dub flights. Which is great because I have never missed an upgrade using my 4/6 Certs in at least 50 segments.

Have been almost tempted to go in coach during the summer season as I would bound as a PM to also get an OP/UP!! However haven't risked it, as knowing my luck the plane would be empty!!

If you include the words AVOD or IFE somewhere in your complaint, that seems to trigger something in the mileage fairy that causes it to shower you with a ridiculous amount of miles.

Will remember that the next time!!

They offered me 6000 Miles, I replied by requested 6000 MQM and 10,000 miles

Status / History of Complaints

1. Hope you reported it to FA so s/he can report to Captain so it can be reported for maintenance in due course.

2. What you get will depend on your status and your history of complaints (DL tracks this stuff and tends to start tapering down what it hands out as the # of minor complaints rises).

another compensation question ...

Sorry in advance.

I was scheduled to fly from STI through JFK to DTW Sunday (DL550/3292).
The incoming flight from JFK-STI was delayed 4 hours (mechanical), so my STI-JFK flight was also delayed, meaning I missed the connection in JFK, and got into DTW the next day, 14 hours late.

DL put me in the Doubletree and gave me $18 in food vouchers.

Is there some mandatory compensation I am entitled to?

There is no mandatory compensation...although if you complain they may throw some miles at you.

3Cforme May 23, 2012 9:12 am

Mandatory, as required by the Contract of Carriage, customer commitment, or applicable law? No.

MarkCron May 23, 2012 9:13 am

Thanks rwoman.
Is there a minumum lateness that triggers a mandatory compensation for an international flight?

For a Delta operated flight, this would only potentially apply on departures FROM the EU, which would not apply in this case.
