I had potato leek soup on a recent ATL-MSP flight, and enjoyed it. My only complaint was that it wasn't hot enough...so I had to chuckle when OP mentioned the FA's concern about it being dangerous. The coffee and tea they serve is always hotter.

We had a minestrone-ish soup on MCO-BOS 11/18. Very surprised because it was on an MD80, but afterward I realized it must have been boarded in a thermos container. Very good though.

Had the tortilla soup for lunch on BOS-MSP last week. I agree it was too spicy and not particularly flavorful. However, I also really like the concept. It's a very welcome addition on the flights that otherwise get a cold meal. I'll be interested to see if this is just a wintertime thing.

I really miss (most of) the soups on CO. I believe CO's are catered already in the bowls, which the FAs heat. Not sure which is better, but CO's bowls are a bit heavier, deeper and less prone to spillage IMO.

I enjoyed the chicken tortilla soup on my LGA-MCO flight on Sunday night. I was surprised how spicy it was!

That said, I'm on ATL - ELP in F tonight....I'm hoping for soup. I agree with others, mushroom soup has been a GREAT addition to DL service.

I trust this was being poured in the galley and not from a cart in the aisle?
From a thermos on a cart in the aisle. It would be really dangerous to pour it from a cart.

I had the onion cream soup on FRA-DTW and it was absolutely delicious! Of course, that is only if you like onions. The Tomato and Basil soup on ATL-LHR was good too.

Hope to see them on some routes in the near future ^

Nope, lived in MSP most of my life. However, I just spent several weeks in ATL and where is mistakenly thought that it would be WARMER than Minnesota. Silly me, packed a raincoat rather than a winter coat. I found it especially miserable because ATL seems to be in denial that it is ever cold there. Waiting for the Marta in a wind swept station with no over head heaters, not my idea of fun. In MSP we have heated bus shelters, skyways, heated car seats and all kinds of other innovations (like outdoor football ???) that make winter bearable.

Ours was PIPING hot and really yummy. I think it was tomato basil. I wish they would serve it in wrappers that give a URL with ordering information as well as the opportunity to earn skymiles like the Biscoff's!

The bowls were very shallow as another poster mentioned.

Somehow. I like to eat tomato soup and potatoes soup with sausage & onions, too.

How about you likes mushroom cream soup?
