First Class Soup
Haven't seen this posted yet. Flew ATL to MSP on Friday night and was served HOT tomato soup. It was absolutely delicious and given the cold temps in ATL really hit the spot. It was a pleasant surprise for this former NWer who really misses the hot meals in domestic first. (Not saying that there aren't a lot of things I love about DL too- Biscoff's, priority baggage handeling, etc).
The FA attendant commented that she felt it was dangerous to serve- as she had to pour it from thermos type containers into the soup bowls. Felt it would be really dangerous during turbulence.

Very nice ... this would be a wonderful addition to meal service!
I hope to get lucky and get such hot service on my lunch back from LAS-ATL this week!

huge huge ^ - the BusinessElite soups are fantastic on international routes and arguably my favorite part of those meal services. (Who would think cream of [interchangeable vegetable] could be so tasty?)
The Thermos method is already used on international segments, so I think the safety concern is a little overblown (although it may be unfamiliar to F/As who have never worked a BusinessElite flight)

Had hot chicken tortilla soup on my EWR > ATL flight last night in F. Posted a picture (along with some other discussion) in this post:

I had a hot chicken tortilla (I think) soup from MSP-BOS the other day, along with a roast beef salad plate. Soup was pretty spicy but really tasty, and the salad was really good as well... better than some of the reviews. Probably one of the best domestic meals I've had in F besides the short ribs.

Ugh, I was served soup on both my flights this week ATL-BOS-ATL, and I hated it! I mean, I love the concept - I was really excited to be getting a warm bowl of soup after sitting on the tarmac in a snowstorm. But it was disgusting! Overly salty and just had an odd taste and aftertaste. I took two sips to make sure it really was that gross, and it was. I wasn't the only one returning full bowls back to the galley
I want tomato soup or cream of (blank)!! /whine
Love the concept; hated the specific soup I was served.

This has been around for awhile and is not any more dangerous to serve than hot coffee. I have seen it on certain flights but not on others. For example, BOS-ATL, ATL-MSP, ATL-JFK have had it while transcons like LAS-DTW and ATL-PHX have not had it. Is it only served on certain flight segments or short-to-medium stage lengths?

Served on mealtime flights that are after 5 p.m. officially (I'm a little disappointed in you SkyTeam777 - this information was readily available on my Facebook page from one of my FA friends responding to a query of yours
)

(Side note, she was not happy with my CO BizFirst pillow from the DO being out in my apartment, but did happily pose for a photo with it that is now on Facebook...)

I too had the chicken tortilla soup and really enjoyed it. It could have been a bit hotter actually, but it was fine.
Thanks for the good laugh. I had to check your location and I laughed even harder when I saw you say your location is MSP. Atlanta is never "cold", at least to most Minnesotans. I assume you are a transplant. Their temps in Atlanta last week in the 30's was shorts and T shirt weather to me

Wonder why it has been making so many lunchtime appearances though? Oh well, it's a nice addition in my opinion!
