Exactly as you said. So the AS gift card idea failed. I still have $100 of value left and am considering AA gift cards maybe 2x$50. Last week I flew on Frontier and thought well finally I will buy some overpriced food/drink and use part of it that way. To my surprise the charge never appeared. It has been 4 days. I am thinking now perhaps they didn't swipe the card properly on the handheld reader the flight attendant has so the charge never happened. They did bring me a snack pack though. This 'free money' is so hard to use! I didn't read the fine print to see it is only US based airlines, so when I paid $140 for baggage fees on BA a month ago I thought I had this, then I realized BA will not qualify. It is getting expensive to keep trying these things to use this 'free money' and they aren't working and don't get reimbursed!

Got a Frontier ticket for $96. Didn't trigger the credit.

As of 2 days ago, $50 AA GC and $50 United TB still work for the $100 credit.

Has anyone tried buying miles, specifically Air Alaska miles?

UA Travel Bank
Confirming this week 11/2024 a $50 UA Travel Bank purchase worked to trigger the rebate. Prior experiment with AS gift card failed it didn't even come thru as a travel purchase. But the UA Travel Bank credits expire in 5 years. I hope to be able to use them. Not sure, but I think the AA gift cards don't expire. I did UA over AA for other reasons I rarely travel on AA anymore.

I appreciate everyone who contributes to the updates on this thread. Here is my contribution: about 10 days ago I bought a $100 AA GC and $100 in United travel bank credits on two different Pathfinder cards. It took about a week for the credits to be issued but they were issued for both. I think it took a little longer for the United charge to credit, by maybe a day or so. So I am happy to confirm that both AA and United still work! Remember that United travel bank credits expire after 5 years.

I got award tickets on Alaska in Nov, one with $100+ required and one with $30.60 required. The latter was credited. I bought a $70 AA GC and was promptly credited the expected $69.40.

DP : Southwest ticket purchase for $43 was credited two days later.
