  1. Are others still able to purchase AA gift cards w/ PenFed? The AA gift card site changed in the last year so now the credit card entry form opens in an overlay, and then on the final step after I enter my card info I get the 3-D Secure (Visa Secure) screen to receive a SMS etc, but the 3-D Secure screen immediately closes on its own without me touching anything and the message "We were unable to process your order at this time. Please try again." appears. I've tried over multiple weeks on Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. Contacting AA gift card customer support recommended I clear my cache.
  2. Does anyone know if AA gift cards purchased via phone triggers the credit?

Thanks for the reminder -- I'd been meaning to do the same to use my remaining credit. Just succeeded in doing so, using Firefox on Windows, though I did have to allow javascript on a new site to make that Visa Secure popup work (if you're not using an extension like noscript this would be irrelevant). The charge promptly showed up on penfed.org as Pending. The link I used was https://www.americanairlines.com/giftcards which redirected to https://giftcards.aa.com

UPDATE: I received credit for the charge a couple days later.

Happy New Year, 2026!

I've had a PenFed acct for 10+ yrs and just came across the Pathfinder card.
I just applied for the Access America checking acct so to get the Pathfinder annual fee waived.

Then while looking for better sign up bonuses for the Pathfinder card, i came across US Bank Altitude card.
Basic difference:
Pen Fed- $100 annual domestic air ancillary travel statement credit (But it seems like your have to jump through hoops to make it useful)
US Bank- 4 passes to a lounge

My home airport is IAD. I travel solo.
I'm flying into LAX in March then maybe LAX-Singapore same month.
Or IAD-Dubai in April.

Which is the better card for me?

I think you mean Altitude Connect, which is discussed here: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/cred...5-10-21-a.html

That's the next card on my list since Cap1vx doesn't allow auth users, and Amex Platinum/ CSR all have become too expensive to keep for long keep.
Will get one for myself and one for my P2.

2x$50 worked in Dec 2025, can't comment on 2026 but I assume it would be fine.

Even tho I've had a PenFed acct for almost 2 decades, I chose the US Bank Altitude Connect.
I don't have status on any airline so Being a peasant, I want the high life of lounge access. (Till i get tired of the novelty)

After I got the card, I noticed that each additional lounge pass beyond the 4 free costs $35, which is the same as the Pathfinder's lounge access.

So $35 x 4 = $170 in value vs Penfed's $100 flight credit (with an easy? hoop jump).
I guessed right. :D
(Obviously, if you don't value US Bank's free lounge access then get the Pathfinder)
