Annual fee waived after calling customer support. 1st rep said it's not possible so I asked nicely if I could make the request to a supervisor. Supervisor pulled up the account and quickly said that would be no problem! $35k spent on card (MF & day to day).

Nice. Thanks for the follow-up.

Okay, so if I have 40,000 points, I can redeem for a $700 purchase, and then be left with $300 to pay because it'll have covered $400 of the $700?

you'll get 10% of your miles back when you redeem for travel.

I had a 1k charge and the initial $400 plus $50 was taken off the bill

This is not correct information. You get the 10% back but you cannot redeem them against the same charge. After you redeem your 40,000 points (e.g. $400), you will be have 4000 pts put back into your acct for future redemptions. This is equivalent for to $40 off your next travel.

Also, I forgot to mention my last post, keep in mind that you will also have points for the initial $3000 you spent to get the sign-up bonus. So you should have 46,000 points to put towards your first redemption.

Well I beg to differ.. I did have $450 taken off my bill from my $1k cruise purchase.
Whether the 10% was not redeemed against the same charge or not might be true.. I still had a percentage put back as you stated ( the card only required a 1k minimum spend)

Everything should be the same except expiration date.

Yes, you redeemed 40,000 points and then 5,000 points but it wouldn't have been on the same purchase - which is what the previous poster is saying. You get 10% of the points you spend on travel back - and you can redeem those points immediately (i.e. same day) but you can't apply it on the same travel charge you just applied the other points on.

So if you make a $1,000 charge and use 40,000 points ($400) on it, you get 4,000 points back but you can't redeem those again the $600 that is still left on the $1,000 charge you made. However, you can immediately redeem those against another travel charge you haven't applied points to in the last 120 days.

Barclays pulled TU for me and 3 days later there's a "new trade" line on my EXP report from them. What the heck is that?

???

So you applied, and they approved you?
I don't see what you're asking?

Exactly what I was saying. Thanks for trying to clear this up for the OP.

I applied/was approved 2 weeks ago and have not yet received my card. How much longer should I wait? I'm definitely past the "7-10 business days" estimate.

Wildcatz1 Jun 5, 2014 8:44 pm

Yes same number however expiration changed

Congrats Nick, as I mentioned looks like Barclaycard did finally listen to the concerns and the complaints of all that voiced them. Glad to see they are doing the right thing for existing customers and again a shout out to the exec office for helping with these !
