As reported on Doctor of Credit:

Current best public offer: 50k points after $4000 spend in 90 days, first year annual fee waived -
https://www.navyfederal.org/loans-cards/credit-cards/offers/flagship-visa-signature.php

Some existing customers are being targeted for 60k offers, either when they log into the NFCU site or via email with the subject "Earn 60K Bonus Points With Flagship".

Points worth 1 cent each. At worst, this is a 2% back card, with bonus categories:

Now earn 3X the points on all travel purchases, including:
  • Airline and Train Tickets
  • Ride-Sharing Services
  • Public Transit
  • Hotel Stays
  • Tolls
  • Car Rentals
  • Parking
Plus, continue to earn 2X points on everything else.

1-15-22 link says current offer is only 30K pts for 3K spend in 90 days. 1.99% interest for 6 mo for BT.

You must be able to qualify for membership in the Credit Union. Most people qualify as military service members or veterans, DoD civilians, or via family members.

Anyone here have experience redeeming these points for travel? I understand that the 60K points can be redeemed for $450. But how does it work for airfare purchased without going through their 3rd party booking service. The chart states that 60K can be redeemed for a $600 ticket purchased with this card. What if the ticket actually costs more or less than that? I read the pdf on it but it is still clear as mud to me how that works. Also those of us that did the min spend is there as way to use the points we earned from meeting it, or are they completely useless unless we spend enough on the card to get to the next award level?

Customer service is very friendly and helpful about redeeming points for flights (and maybe other travel?) that you purchased with your Flagship Rewards card. No minimum redemption, $0.01 per point. Just call them up and ask about redeeming rewards for a travel purchase.

This was my experience as well. Very easy and friendly, did two air booking reimbursements over the phone, statement credit showed up within 2 days. Easier than using their booking engine as well.

Thank you for the replies!

So if I purchase an airline ticket from say AA directly for $643 and I have 64300 points NFCU will reimburse the entire price and I can use all these points? What if the ticket is $700 and I only have 64300 points? Do I get reimbursed for up to $643? I asked the CSR rep when I applied but she was unfamiliar with the program and just read me what was posted in #3 of this thread.

Just trying to understand rules before I either purchase a ticket with this card or just cash out.

I believe it was 60,000 points in October. Still, not bad, and the credit limits they give you are sky high.

I'm active duty Air Force, but haven't been able to get them to approve me for a checking account. I have great credit, but a lot of hard pulls.

That's bizarre. I know they pull TU upon opening a new deposit account, but I didn't think it was based on creditworthiness. They are also reputed to be among the least inquiry-sensitive financial institutions out there.

Pass. People should keep personal minimums to at least 50k points.
