I just use Creditkarma and Credit Sesame since they're free. Since they use Transunion and Experian, respectively, I see which bank pulled from either one after my applications. If it's not on one of those then process of elimination, it was Equifax.

I use CreditCheck Monitoring Premium. I can pull all three credit reports once per day. If you get it through USAA.com it is $12.95 per month. Credit is a hobby of mine so to me it is worth it.
If you only want to get a look at each credit report once every 30 days or so you can usually get a free report at each credit bureau site by clicking that you have recently had adverse action (credit denial) or you want to dispute something on your report. The bureaus make those links hard to find and try to sell you crap along the way as you click through but I used to do it that way. Maybe go to creditboards.com and search for "free credit reports" they probably have the information and links there somewhere if you can't find them on TU, Experian, and Equifax sites.

I thought USAA now limits it to one pull per month.

Maybe it's just my location, but hardly anyone uses Equifax for me. On my credit report, I only have 3 inquires reported on Equifax and double digit amounts on Transunion and Experian.

I pulled all 3 credit reports and began to add who pulled what and when on google calendar
I was shocked ... TU has only 2 pulls in 24 months, EQ has 1, and *all* the others where EX!!

I don't know where you live but I wouldn't necessarily be shocked. Ex is the largest bureau by far so would stand to reason theyd have the lions share of inquiries.

Citi: Automatic rejection due to "more than one inquiry in last 5 days"
I applied to the Citi 5x Gas/Grocery card on my latest 5 card churn, but they gave me an "automatic rejection" for having, per the supervisor on the reconsideration line, "more than one inquiry in the last five days." Anybody heard of this before? I figure I'll give another call to the reconsideration line tomorrow.

I'm starting to think Citi is clamping down because of churning. First they stopped the 2BM, now you can't have two apps within 24 hours, and now this. Hopefully it was just one random Recon Agent.

Citi auto-denies for more than 1 inquiry last 5 days?
Someone just wrote to me and said he had a ThankYou Preferred app denied. When he called reconsideration, they said it was because he had "more than one credit inquiry in the last five days." He called back a few times and got the same answer. He could not get them to budge.
I've searched the web for similar denials and found nothing.
One time thing? New policy?
If it is a new policy, it's not catastrophic unless all issuers adopt it. If just Citi does, then you just apply for the Citi cards first in your app-o-rama.

Credit pulls impact on apartments?
Hello everyone,
I know the rule of thumb is to hold off on credit card churning when making big purchases such as car and home. But what about just renting an apartment? I'm thinking about moving and a lot of the apartments I'm looking at require a credit check. Will the fact I've applied for a bunch of credit cards recently have a negative impact on me getting approved for an apartment? Would the apartment credit check show up as yet another credit pull that I should take into account before doing my next round of credit card applications?

That said, if you're being compared against someone with the same background who DOESN'T have all those inquiries...that might put you at a disadvantage.
The credit check they run will show up as a regular hard pull on your credit report (at least they always have for me).

My guess is that apartment checks are looking primarily for negative info like charge-offs and the like, and aren't so concerned about things like regular inquiries.

Cool, thanks for the info.
