For questions on NEW applications for US Airways cards please use this thread:
USAirways CC special Offer 40K + 10K Bonus; AF not waived

Official: 10k annual bonus for existing cardholders will continue beyond 2014

We will leave this thread open for questions from existing cardholders who applied using offers with the perpetual annual 10k bonus. Otherwise, please post on the ongoing thread on standard offers:
Current Offers: USAirways cards with no annual mileage bonus

Current Links:
30k + 10k anniversary + no annual fee for the first year (now says "Offer expired"); terms and conditions include offer specifics
[NOTE: Barclays is erratically enforcing the restriction "for Preferred members only," especially for those who leave off a membership number on the application. See recent experiences reported in the thread.]

There is a separate thread for a 40k+10k offer with $89 annual fee, no anniversary bonus: USAirways CC special Offer 40K + 10K BT Bonus; AF not waived

Expired Links:
30k at signup, 10k anniversary bonus, 10k with balance transfer, no fee first year - Landing Page (Ended 4/30/14)
Older 35K Link (older link not working)
Newer 35K Link (click on terms and conditions to see 35K bonus after first purchase, first year fee waived, and 10K anniversary bonus)

1) I applied for this card but got the message
We apologize for the inconvenience, but our website is experiencing technical issues.
Please contact us at 1-866-419-6437 or try again later.
What does this mean? What should I do?

Check your application status by visiting http://www.myapplicationstatus.com/

At Barclays, if you already have an online account, the card can also show up there before you get a notification from them. Obviously, that won't work if you don't yet have an online Barclays account from another card. But if it's not your first US card, you presumably do have an online account already.

2) What's the reconsideration line number?

866-408-4064. Only open M>F, 8am>5pm, Eastern.

3) How long after my first purchase does it take for the bonus miles to post in my account?

Miles for the first-purchase bonus post with the statement showing the initial purchase.

4) For those people who got the targeted offer, how long after spending $750 in each of the 3 months does it take for the bonus miles to post in my account?

Miles posts two months after the end of the promotion period. For example, if your promo was to spend in June, July and August, the 15k bonus would post with October statement.

5) How can I get the anniversary 10K bonus points without paying the annual fee?

The annual bonus posts on the statement date of the month of anniversary. No need to "kick out" a statement. But if you are worried, you can put a few bucks on the card during that cycle thus generate a statement but it is NOT necessary.

AF is billed the last business day of the month of the anniversary (much better than Chase practice which is on the 1st day of the month). You have 60 days to cancel the card for the AF to be reversed. You also can use SM to cancel card and no need to call.

Note: I called to cancel the card (June, 2014), told them it was because the AF was too high, and they waived it. Still got the 10,000 points and the Companion Certs!!

My question: Should I call the number on the back of my card to complain or try with a secure email?

I am ticked...this is a pure bait and switch...I'll keep you guys updated on what happens.
well whatever you do, promise me you will fight it to the bitter end.
That's what I will do if it happens to my soon to arrive card!
Although I stupidly do not think I have the screen shot bit.
Care to share that with me? I could email with you in a PM

First off, are you sure it was 10k miles on $10k spending? That doesn't even sound like a promo they'd run with! Perhaps 10k on first spend. Or 10k on $100. But $10k? Part of me wonders if they weren't messing with ya.

Otherwise, did you get bumped down (as many have) to the lower card offer of 10k on first spend on the Platinum card? If so, you're at a dead end I think. No one, including me, has had their card offer changed once it's approved from what I can tell. In certain circumstances, you may be able to go for a second attempt (which I did successfully) but it's unlikely you can avoid the second credit hit. If this was the case, while I don't like the practice, you did know that there was the risk this would happen when you applied didn't ya? It is in the first post and covers about half the content of this thread.

One other thing that might be getting confused is that you can earn up to another 10k via a balance transfer of up to $10k. Are you confusing the sign-up bonus of 35k with the balance transfer bonus opportunity? This sounds pretty possible if you called in and you and the rep weren't communicating well. If that's all, then it's just miscommunication. Call in to another rep and confirm the 35k on first spend and optional balance transfer promo up to $10k.

That said, I'm not a fan of the balance transfer part. I don't like buying miles at $.01 each which is the best you can do. I skipped it. I know it can be a good deal but I get so many miles from other ways that cost me near $0 that I just don't see a point in buying at $.01 each/

Now, if you did receive the Premier World card and you really did somehow get a strange 10k on $10k spend promo you might have a chance since at least you got the right product, just with the wrong promo code attached.

If that's the case, do it all in writing as this will be a little complex to fix.

Sounds like you only qualified for their Platinum. If they approved you for less than $5000, then it is a Platinum.

Read their terms and conditions below:

If you do not qualify, we will automatically consider you for a Platinum card which offers fewer benefits and a lower annual fee. See Terms and Conditions for information about the account terms and benefits that will apply if you are not approved for a Premier World MasterCard

No, I meant the two versions of the personal card.

Yes but to do it deliberately may require some smooth talking but it is technically possible. You will almost certainly be declined on the 2nd app but then can contact US Airways for reconsideration.

No ideas about strategies like multiple apps on the same day that work elsewhere.

I have both the personal World card (no fee) and the personal Premier World (per the promotion described in the OP), and received bonuses for each. I was initially declined for the latter -- as suggested, the reason was "sufficient credit [already, ya big lug]" -- but a call to the Barclays reconsideration line and a willingness to reallocate credit from the World card did the trick. No smooth talking required.

I don't remember which number I called, but a bit of Googling (which is how I came up with the number I did call) suggests that it might have been 866-408-4064.

Since i had the US card with a $10K limit and wanted to get the Lufthansa card, I phoned and lowered my cl to $5K (minimum for premier) and applied next day for the Lufthansa. First got ten-day message , then approval with $5K cl.

Since Barclays won't move lines to open new cards like Chase, it may be best to call and lower one line first if you have other Barclays cards.

Untrue. As I think I wrote about a few weeks back, I got a 2nd (Premier World/annual fee not waived/35K bonus for first purchase) Barclays card after an initial denial by calling reconsideration, who lowered the line on my no-fee World US card.
