First Minister of Scotland, Ms Sturgeon recommends masking:
https://news.stv.tv/politics/first-m...-near-capacity

I thought it was interesting that unlike the UKHSA (https://www.thesun.co.uk/health/2092...health-chiefs/) only recommending masks for those with cold and flu symptoms, Ms Sturgeon is advising "people should wear masks on public transport and in public indoor spaces such as hospitals, GP surgeries and other healthcare facilities." regardless of any symptoms.

Somehow I've missed that. Thanks, that's great to know and definitely opens lots of new options

Could've sworn I read something that mentioned Italy possibly bringing back restrictions. Obviously nothing announced yet but seems like they were considering.

Zero political will (or capital) for such a move. No need to worry.

I thought so but then Brazil came out of nowhere and brought back masks on planes. Just never know these days. Thankfully Europe as a whole seems very unlikely to bring anything back even in Germany.

Could we now just confirm that Europe is open? Except for a mask mandate for certain public transport in Greece life is 100% normal in every corner of the European continent. Should we not celebrate, that we can travel and enjoy our lives again?

Edit: Vienna still has its odd FFP2 masking requirement on public transport.

Hopefully we have learned a lesson or to before the next pandemic (that hopefully is far far away).

So long as you are not Chinese, Europe has been pretty much open since summer last year.

I read this forum/thread with great pleasure. I’m just very exited things are becoming more normal. Travel is my greatest passion in life and I’m so happy my passion again is possible, with very few restrictions.

As far as I'm aware, the only places in Europe which aren't back to normal are Cyprus, Greece and Vienna (with Vienna leaving the list on 1st March). Did I miss something or does that sound correct?

The rest is fully open with no mask mandates outside of healthcare facilities. I have no idea about Cyprus, but in Greece, the mask mandate only applies in local transport and taxis. Inter city transportation has no mask mandates.

I’m going to Greece in April, and while it would be nice not having to wear a mask on the bus, it’s hardly a deal breaker for me. Outside of public transport and healthcare facilities I’m not aware of any restrictions what so ever all over Europe.
