I know it's hard to predict but does anyone think there is a reasonable chance flights between the UK and Turkey will resume by the end of February? I see that Norway and India have resumed flights and am wondering if Turkey might be one of the next to follow suit given the PCR test on entry requirements.

Thanks in advance.

An interesting article from The Spectator:

Brexit Britain should help vaccinate Ireland

Dutch media are reporting that the Netherlands, Belgium and France “soon” will require a rapid Covid-19 test (with negative result) taken just before boarding a plane, train or ferry from the UK, and for passengers coming from South Africa. The rapid test is in addition to the PCR test (max 72 hours old) that also will remain required.

If that is the case, and as far as the UK is concerned, presumably a single, same day rapid antigen test will be OK for France? That won't work for NL who require a PCT test but should work with France. Not sure what the situation is in Belgium.

The German government is trying to get other EUropean governments to sign up for coronavirus response measures that would even frustrate the return of EU citizens and third country EU/Schengen state residents from entering the Schengen area (when coming from outside the EUropean/Schengen area), in order to have a limited period of a de facto halt to even much of the "essential" cross-border traffic that has continued to go on during most/all of the pandemic. It seems that some EUropean countries are ok with such a de facto travel ban expansion for traffic from designated areas for EU/Schengen country citizens and residents while other EUropean countries are only ok with such a de facto travel ban expansion with an exception for their own citizens but not for third country nationals resident in the EU/Schengen area. [I have to wonder how this will fly for those UK citizens and others who are Brexit Withdrawal Agreement protectees if there is a carve-out for EU/Schengen member states' own citizens, but Germany's plan under consideration would make that moot.]

Any such measures that go in place may come with a much further reduction in passenger flight service to/from the EU/Schengen area.

Traveling far from home internationally seems to be getting riskier in some ways, unless you're ok with being stuck abroad for a while longer than you may have planned: https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/b...box=1611213166

Poland is a good illustration of this. It has spent most of the pandemic either at or near the bottom in terms of testing. Death rates are the worst since 1945.

I don't track international Covid numbers anymore, all I hear and know from my news every day is that "we need to avoid the Portugalization of the country."...

Brittany*, France releases weekly infection rates at quite a granular level (by EPCI**) but I can't find the same data for the whole of France. Does anyone how to find infection rates for the whole of France by EPCI or by commune? The Geodes website would be where I would expect to find it but it is only at département level.

Thank you
