Gov. Cuomo announced bans on gatherings over 500 people - so I'm guessing this will darken Broadway.

Mickidon Mar 12, 2020 12:35 pm

Met Museum, NY Philharmonic and Carnegie Hall also closed and this list is likely to grow by the nanosecond.

Broadways shows definitely canceled and NJ gatherings limited to 250 people.

AUSA Global Force next week in Huntsville, AL canceled.

We had tickets for West Side Story on Broadway tonight. We were getting very worried about going. I had already decided last night that I wouldn't. Now neither of us will go.

So all these closings across the country.

Has anyone indicated what metric will be used to determine when or what will be on the schedule again, lifted, removed, canceled etc??

aztimm Mar 12, 2020 2:41 pm

The MLB just cancelled all remaining Spring Training [baseball] games.

Opening day delayed at least 2 weeks.

No metric. I'm guessing it will depend on time, insurance coverage and a number of other items.

Without widespread testing, we are shooting in the blind.

China feels/claims it has things under control but people say we need to wait at least 2 14 day cycles to be sure. They locked down WuHan and many parts of the country late January and there is no way any measures we take here can be as drastic or effective.

It seems now with people taking it seriously in the US, people are panicking. That is not good.

Yes, senseless overstocking of toilet paper, bottled water, etc,,, is an over reaction.

But cancelling events to improve social distancing is sensible to reduce overwheling health systems and mortalty/morbidity on elderly/chronically ill , especially since we do not have accurate numbers.

Boggie Dog Mar 12, 2020 4:10 pm

NASCAR's Atlanta and Miami races will be held without spectators. Wonder if anyone will notice?
