You guys are all worried about EUAs and the first thing I'm wondering about is the performance of a 739 on the short runway in OGG!
Does anyone else fly a 737 into/outta OGG? Alaska yet? Aloha must have, but IRRC they had -700s. Will be interesting to see the performance of a -900 on the short runway going back to LAX.
Don't see any of this loaded in the res system yet, but if indeed it is August start, it would have to be coming in soon.....
A OGG layover would be a nice addition to the mix!

Just about worthless for me. I don't like OGG.
Now, if they started flights to LIH, I would be screaming from the rooftops

So it may not be EUA'able and you may not get entertainment? I can see why CO has started moving away from calling it BF. I guess there is less competition for a fancy premium cabin. Does anyone do good F seats from the west coast? At least EWR/IAH-HNL are out of range for the 739!

This was inevitable
The other news is...the mil charters will be the "proving flights" for more extensive TATL ops with this machine.
Soon we'll see CO attempt to operate the 739ER on short TATL sectors in revenue service, just like we asked them about at the '07 DO. For example, EWR-SNN is certainly possible with appropriate ETOPS qualification.
Anything to free up 752s and push them to sub for EU-bound 764s.

Umm...not likely, I don't think. Most of the routes with the 76s are too long for the 752s.

The problem with this one is that it doesn't connect well to the CO network. But that could be an advantage when redeeming a ff award ticket. Like use CO's partners to get to LAX, and then hop aboard this flight. When the "better" Hawaii flights are sold out for standard ff awards, this one could be a jewel.

Livetv and flying to Hawaii
WIll the livetv work on these flights or will the customers have to buy a movie? Or just bring a very big book . I believe Livetv does not work for B6 flights to the Caribean .

LiveTV definitely drops off about 100 miles past the coastline of the USA on the Caribbean side. My guess is that CO will be happy for customers to buy the movies, or they may splurge and provide those for free. But DirecTV is available in Hawaii so maybe the satellite range will cover the flight.

739er tatl
Let's not forget that the 752 is out of production, so the capacity to increase the TATL "long-thin" routes with 752's is not so easy.
My understanding, though, is that the range on the 739ER is considerably less than that of the 752, so it will never be an exact replacement.

DL has just begun offering premium seats on their 744's ATL-HNL, NW flies a A330 with premium seats MSP-HNL and I believe AA offers flights with premium seats from DFW and maybe ORD (their two class 763's).
CO is the only carrier offering the enhanced on board service. BF lite.

I loove LIH also, but my heart belongs to Wailea (south side) of Maui...

all kidding aside, I hear where you are coming from - each island really is special in its own way...
i leave for OGG in a couple of weeks - its been a year since i've been there, so I am overdue for the trip...
Aloha all....

I can't see CO charging miles/co-pay for 739 domestic F service. There is just no way they have the cojones to do that.
I think it will be a standard 15K no-fee mileage upgrade with no EUA, basically the same deal that NW had on its west-coast to Hawai'i 753 trips.
In flight service will likely be the standard transcon product westbound and either soup/sandwich or snack plate service eastbound depending on the departure time.

I would LOOOOOOVE to see EWR-KEF, and I wouldn't care that it was on a narrowbody. It doesn't have to be daily, either (duh, not enough demand). I'll take any option under the sun to avoid JFK and FI.
