Correct! This is weight restrictions where 739ER are flying into shorter runway. Is that 739ER getting ETOPS certifications overwater with liferaft & life jacket?

Not right now for new route EWR-KEF. Maybe someday in the future.

The flight crew will be CLE-based so that is an option. I suppose they could also bring the crew in on a different 737 and switch them onto a plane that is operating on EWR-LAX or IAH-LAX, too. Actually, I think they'll have to do that unless they are going to have two different CLE-LAX 73E flights; they need one for LAX-OGG, too. I'd bet on a direct single flight number EWR-(LAX)-OGG if they tried to do something like that.

hmmm, pulling the 752s for possible transcon duty or more European routes?

How full are the LAX-HNL flights right now? Maybe they figure they are not losing too much revenue by not having the BF seats.

After the nonstop IAH-OGG flight ended, the flight lived on for a short time as IAH-LAX-OGG.

CO should try SEA/PDX/SFO/SAN-HNL with 739 to feed Guam service.

Does anyone else fly a 737 into/outta OGG? Alaska yet? Aloha must have, but IRRC they had -700s. Will be interesting to see the performance of a -900 on the short runway going back to LAX.

Don't see any of this loaded in the res system yet, but if indeed it is August start, it would have to be coming in soon.....

A OGG layover would be a nice addition to the mix!

I thought Alaska was flying the route already, though if I recall correctly it was with the 738.

I hope the fares are reasonable, I wouldn't mind making a MR out of the new service.

First off I am not going to confirm or deny any of these rumors, but I would seriously question the source of your rumor as anyone who is in the know is not going to immediately tell someone who is going to post it all over the internet. However if it is true then that's a serious breach of confidentiality which rather than pointing the finger at the ASA who upgraded an employee improperly, probably important to single out the employee who is divulging information that is then being posted on the internet.

If LAXOGG couldnt work on a 752, I don't see how it would be worth spending an entire 73E when that could be allocated to something else. While the fare environment has changed significantly since TZ/AQ have left the market, connectivity seems to be the key since it would have to rely solely on local traffic unless it moves later as LAXHNL has to connect from the hubs.
