I'm split on this. I can respect that the foreign carriers want their flight to come into New York, not the NYC Metro area. But at the same time, I'd rather see those flights come into a Star hub that is easier to deal with. Any connecting traffic that results from the shift to EWR would not be huge...those flights are there for O&D purposes of the business and ethnic (family visits, etc.) markets of the country they come from. Having all those other partner carriers at a port of entry that does not provide good onward connectivity just seems wrong in principle.

On the topic of DL at JFK, they wouldn't know a good opportunity if it fell out of the sky, landed on their face, and started to wiggle. (Bonus points for IDing the reference.) On one hand, if I'm playing the armchair Jann Albrecht, I move the flights and convince the member airlines to cede to DL, making a not altogether impossible bet that they will implode...
